(More customer reviews)I put these Grover machine heads on my MIM Fender Standard Jazz bass. The stock ones were not terrible but they were a bit rough turning and seemed to go out of tune more often than on other basses I have had. I am very pleased with the Grovers. They are heavier built than the stock ones and look and feel higher quality with a nice finish and good quality castings. The Grovers feel a lot smoother turning and stay in tune better than the stock heads. Also the Grovers were fairly easy to install and fit well except that only two of the four mounting screw holes on each head fit with existing holes. I drilled two new holes for each and the old holes were covered by the bigger mounting surface of the Grovers. I did not notice a significant change in the sound of the bass. I think that the Grovers are a good value and gave my bass a higher quality look and feel.
