Squier by Fender Affinity Telecaster, Butterscotch Blonde Review

For the money, I have absolutely no complaints about this guitar. It was well-intonated and set up from the factory, and it stays in tune quite well. I'm using D'Addario 9-42's and love the way it plays and sounds. Not mind-blowing pickups, but they're not noisy and nothing has come loose. Yeah, the nut's cheap thin plastic, but that's an easy upgrade. After it was in the house a few dry winter months I had to file the fret ends a bit too, but you've gotta expect that sort of thing. This is the kind of guitar that a beginner would probably not appreciate, thinking that dollars equal quality, but for somebody who knows better, this axe is a real sleeper. The maple neck is very high quality, tight grained wood, with a comfy and fast profile, and the whole guitar is light. It's my everyday player and I couldn't be happier with it.

Hartke 2500 Bass Guitar Amplifier Head, 250 watts Review

Hartke 2500 Bass Guitar Amplifier Head, 250 watts
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Hartke 2500 is a 250-watt (max.) bass amp with two pre-amp settings, equalization, a high- and low-end 'cut,' compression, and master volume. Takes active or passive instruments. Effects line in/out, ground lift, fan, two speakers out. 25 lbs.
I play mine through a highly rated Schroeder 12-inch 8-ohm cab, which draws 175 watts; adding another 8-ohm speaker would draw the full 250 watts. With the single speaker, I get amazing tone and power. Of course, it helps that the Schroeder speaker is top quality.
Features: a tube-emulating pre-amp and a solid-state pre-amp. These can be employed separately or blended. The tube-type produces a fatter, old-fashioned sound. EQ sliders are efficient. Compression can be dialed in and is very helpful when playing louder and harder as it prevents sudden strong signals going to the speaker(s). The high- and low-end cut seems somewhat superfluous, being similar in function to the equalization function. But I may be wrong about that.
Strongly built cabinet, convenient handle (on side). Hartke Co. responsive to two emails. An extremely good buy.

Fender CD-140SCE Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Black Review

As always before I purchase an item I am not familiar w/ i do my rersearch on it. Fender is well known for electric but not so for acoustic. So I was unsure of the quality--till i took it to be set-up at my local guitar shop--the tech said he was not a big fan of Fender acoustics---till he played it and thren pluuged it into an amp aftewards. He sdaid he was impressed w/ the product. And may be changing his thouts on Fender acoustics--which i was pleased to hear--not the work stats for me learning to play my new purchase--sdo away I go. Don't be afraid to choose fender acoustic---i think you will be pleased.

Dean Exotica Acoustic-Electric Guitar, KOA Wood Review

Dean Exotica Acoustic-Electric Guitar, KOA Wood
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Bought this from Amazon for my teenage daughter after checking out many brands at music stores in the 250-350 price range. It beat out similar offerings from Ovation, Epiphone, Takamine, Yamaha, and Fender. I don't like the electric guitar offerings from Dean, but the acoustic side is a completely different story. The guitar is stunningly good looking, you could hang it on the wall as a piece of art. Fit and finish are excellent. Soundwise, I only had to make a minor change to the truss rod to get rid of some minor fret buzz (there are instructions and a tool included for this). It comes with D'Addario strings. The neck is on the thinner side and the action is fast and low like an electric guitar. Unplugged, the sound is balanced and crisp wihout being tinny. Through a practice Marshall amp, it lacks bass and I needed to peg the lower eq setting to +10 but it sounds fine now. I was using the 1/4" jack but it also has a balanced jack for hooking directly to a PA. Also has a in/out phase switch if you want more of a resonator guitar sound (bluegrass music). The tuner works well and a packaged battery is included in the battery compartment but you have to plug it in. Using the tuner mutes the guitar output to the amp. All in all, this is an excellent guitar for the beginning or intermediate player.

Great to have around. Keep one in your instrument case. They're cheap, and you never know when your nice electronic tuner is going to run out of batteries!

Squier by Fender Vintage Modified Tele SH, Metallic Red Review

My mother got this for me when I started guitar, I loved it imediately! It has a humbucker (top pickup), which is great for a les paul sound, like Jimmy Page, Angus Young, and other rockers. The single coil (back pickup) is a monster. It dominates the blues, like muddy waters, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and son house. This is a starter guitar, but works well, especially if you replace the strings with some super slinky's. I love it. (but save your money for a Gibson if you get really serious, like after a couple of years)
