(More customer reviews)I bought this neon pink Dean Custom used on eBay for[...]. Pink wasn't my first choice in color, but I couldn't pass it up for the price. But when I got it, I was stoked. The guitar looks hot! I've been playing for almost 4 years and own a Jackson Kelly JS30KE, Squire Strat, Carlson SG1, and a couple Paul Stanley PS series Washburns for show. I play mainly rock... KISS, AC/DC, Def Lep and a bunch of other 80's Butt-Rock tunes and blues and this guitar is perfect for that. Sounds better than my Squire and stock Kelly (until I put in a Seymour Duncan Jeff Beck in the bridge). The action was very low, no fret buzz, tuners feel cheap and might be replaced w/Sperzels soon, but they work. I hear using the whammy bar takes it out of tune quickly, but since I rarely use the whammy, I wouldn't know so I don't care.
This guitar can be purchased for [...] online and retails for [...]. If you can pick this up for [...] or cheaper, you got a deal! I would recommend this guitar for any beginner or novice, or anyone that wants a nice sounding guitar at a killer price. Way better than the Squire Stratocaster that most beginners (like me) usually get for a first guitar. Neck feels smooth, no sharp fret edges that I've noticed. No inlays either... that took getting used to, but looks slicker than snot! Feels sturdy too. This guitar RAWKS... go buy one.

Dean Exotica Bubinga Acoustic Electric Guitar Review

(More customer reviews)I originally viewed this guitar as a risky purchase. I had never played a Dean guitar before. However, I decided that the price was right and it appeared to have good reviews elsewhere. Thus, I anxiously awaited its arrival. So what's good about it? Well, I nearly exclusively played electric guitars and find that the Dean has a nice low action. The fretboard has a good width. The frets are a medium height. The tuners work very well. The electronics seem to be exceptional. Unplugged it sounds beautiful. It looks beautiful - the finish is flawless. Anyway, what's not good about it... well, if you really strum hard, I do mean really quite hard, there's a bit of a buzz on the d string. I believe this will be correctable... however, I'm not sure that it's worth the trouble since it's really a rare occurrence.

Dean V Dave Mustaine Guitar, Bolt-on Classic Black Review

(More customer reviews)I used to play guitar years ago. I had never gotten truly proficient, but I knew a number of songs and wasn't bad at playing them. The problem was, I never really felt like I could play the stuff I listened to - Metallica, Megadeth, etc. Now, after about 8 or 9 years of not having a guitar (pawned off all of the guitars I had over the years, in needing to pay bills - never again!), I decided to pick up a guitar - one that would inspire me to learn some of my favorite songs ("The Thing That Should Not Be" and "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)", for example.)
While I didn't buy this guitar from Amazon (I want to be able to hold and play an instrument before buying it), I'm quite happy that I did buy it. It may be the "low end" of the Dave Mustaine signature series but, as far as I can tell, there's nothing lacking other than a few frills like upgraded inlays and custom paint jobs.
I've had my guitar for about a week now and I can't put it down. I've yet to find anything wrong with it or anything to complain about, save for the positioning of the strap buttons - one is right behind the neck, where it bolts on to the body, and the other is on the underside of the "top" leg of the V. A little difficult to get used to if you're used to strat-styles, but still pretty comfortable. I don't know if I'll ever be able to truly shred out some of the solos in some of the songs I want to learn, but I do know that I'll enjoy trying while playing this guitar. :D

Squier by Fender Bronco Bass, Black Review

(More customer reviews)I have had this bass for about 3 years now, and I must say, it's a very sturdy, and easy to use bass. you have beginners who have tempers?? well get this for sure!! It's a short-necked bass, so it makes it easier to play for smaller people. I got mine used and the only problems with it were loose connections in the inside, and a stripped screw on the pickup. I fixed both of those, and it sounds great!!
It's definately not for pros though, if you have a lot of experience in bass playing, then this probably isn't for you. Distortion isn't great either; it has one coil, and it doesn't handle distortion very well...
All in all, this is an excellent bass, and it is a great starter bass too...

I am a veteran player and am very impressed with the quality both in construction and sound from it. My child is even more interested in practicing now with the "cool" sounds he is getting from it and (probably most important to him) it looks cool.
I researched several competitor guitars and found this one far superior for the price. The 3/4 size should last him through elementary school years and possibly beyond.

(More customer reviews)This guitar is a steal!!! I bought this guitar because of the EMGs, floyd rose, and the new SUPER thin neck designed for this guitar. Before this guitar I was in love with my Jackson DKMG, and I have a hard time going back to it now after playing this guitar. The neck is extremely thin and it allows for the EASIEST access to the higher frets. The only trouble I had was the difference in playing style. With my Jackson I played with a lot of bends and vibrato. I had trouble playing that way with this guitar, but I quickly adjusted to using the whammy instead. When buying this guitar from Amazon, it comes with the worst strings I have ever played. Don't bother using them just replace the strings and set the tuning and floyd rose how you like and have at it.

(More customer reviews)Bought this from Amazon for my teenage daughter after checking out many brands at music stores in the 250-350 price range. It beat out similar offerings from Ovation, Epiphone, Takamine, Yamaha, and Fender. I don't like the electric guitar offerings from Dean, but the acoustic side is a completely different story. The guitar is stunningly good looking, you could hang it on the wall as a piece of art. Fit and finish are excellent. Soundwise, I only had to make a minor change to the truss rod to get rid of some minor fret buzz (there are instructions and a tool included for this). It comes with D'Addario strings. The neck is on the thinner side and the action is fast and low like an electric guitar. Unplugged, the sound is balanced and crisp wihout being tinny. Through a practice Marshall amp, it lacks bass and I needed to peg the lower eq setting to +10 but it sounds fine now. I was using the 1/4" jack but it also has a balanced jack for hooking directly to a PA. Also has a in/out phase switch if you want more of a resonator guitar sound (bluegrass music). The tuner works well and a packaged battery is included in the battery compartment but you have to plug it in. Using the tuner mutes the guitar output to the amp. All in all, this is an excellent guitar for the beginning or intermediate player.

Dean EVO XM Solid Body Electric Guitar, Mahogany Finish Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this Evo because I wanted a cheap non tremelo guitar around to play with alternative tunings, and I really like the looks of it. My other guitars are a Fender Strat and a Fender Lead 1, both equipped with Floyd Rose systems so the Evo was a nice change of pace.
On to the guitar! The first thing I noticed was the weight. At 5.75 lbs. it's probably the lightest guitar I've ever played. Right out of the box it wasn't set up, which didn't really surprise me for a $100 guitar. After setting up the guitar (adjusting the bridge and truss rod) it turned out to be a very nice player. The stock pickups sound great and the solid mahogany body has decent sustain. The good tone surprised me considering how light it is. I have only one complaint. The cheap tuning keys. They're cheap and it's obvious when you turn them and feel varying amounts of play from each of them. That being said, they seem to stay in tune pretty well. The bottom line is that the Evo is an EXCELLENT value! The only thing keeping it from getting 5 stars are the tuning keys. I would highly recommend this guitar to beginners as a first electric or experienced guitarists who want something cheap to play around on. The guitar should be set up properly for best results. If you don't know how to do it, take it to your local guitar shop and pay to have it done.

(More customer reviews)I went to Guitar Center in Springfield to purchase a Yamaha FG700S. While testing the guitar, I noticed a blemished Dean Spalted Maple -I've never heard of Dean in my home country. I gave it a try and liked it.
I decided to puchase this Exotic Walnut online and I was highly impressed when it arrived. The strings are all new (D'addario) and unplayed.
I love the Mini-Jumbo design compared to a Dreadnought which is too big for me. I got my WINGS.

The guitar neck had a crack and was returned.
There goes my WINGS.

I can't believe this was such a good deal I was a little sceptical of getting ripped off because I thought it was to good to be true. Well I got my guitar & it is exactly what I wanted Brand new in the box! My new Dean looks great for under $300.00 it's a steal. It's not quite deep as my acoustic but most acoustic/electrics aren't. It is a little tinny sounding but for the price with a digital on board tuner & chord scale key it is great! Change out the strings to one of your own liking, for me I prefer something a little deeper.. maybe some earneball super slinky'S 10's ;) "Check out GuitarCenter reviews on this Dean" BUY it at Amazon I saved about $100!!!

(More customer reviews)I had some reservations about buying this guitar, but when the price fell below $175, I figured I would give it a try.
First off, if you are looking for a guitar to sound, feel and play like a high end ovation for $175, you are clearly insane.
This guitar has a nice feel, much better action that I had planned on, reasonably rich sound, decent electronics and the built in tuner was pretty usefull.
In all, for a acoustic / electric, you cant go wrong at this price.
The only goofy thing on this guitar is the V headstock which I thought looked pretty cool until i figured out it wont fit in any of my hard or soft cases.....so tack on $50 for a case that works!
