(More customer reviews)I just purchased this guitar package and all I can say is BUY ONE AS SOON AS YOU CAN FIND ONE. This guitar should easily sell for at least $700.--BY ITSELF! The guitar has an on board WT-92 preamp-tuner(very accurate) along with a spruce top with mahagony sides and back and the detail work on it is simply OUTSTANDING!! You also get a padded Washburn gigbag along with several pics and guitar strap and an instructional cd. I own a couple of other really nice guitars but I can already tell I'll be playing this one more often than the others in the future. You can spend a lot more money and get a lot less guitar but why would you?

Washburn Classical Series Acoustic Electric Cutaway Guitar Review

(More customer reviews)I'm not a professional guitar player and never will be. Still, when I play, I want to sound as good as I can. I also want the option to be able to play as many types and styles of music as the mood may strike, so a nylon-stringed "classical" guitar is the best of all worlds for me. Add the desire to be able to plug in an amp along with working on a limited budget, and the field of instruments narrows quickly.

I couldn't be happier that my choice was the Washburn C64SCE. What a gorgeous, well-made guitar! After only a month, the guitar has opened up wonderfully, with a rich, clear tone. String action was nearly perfect out of the box. Tuning is remarkably precise, and it stays in tune better and longer than any other guitar I've owned. It's incredibly easy to be expressive on this guitar as it has a terrific volume range; no amp necessary.

This is the less-expensive brother of the C104SCE, which has a cedar top (instead of spruce) and rosewood back and sides (instead of the ovankol of the C64). Even though the woods of the C64 are less costly, the sound is amazing. The sustain is comparable to rosewood, but I think it projects even better with nice treble.

The electronics work well, and having a chromatic tuner built-in is a plus. The guitar is hefty and seems very solidly constructed. Fit and finish are better than I would've expected at the price point.
The hard case is sold separately. My research shows the proper case is the Washburn GC77, which has been sold out for several months but is available on back order through several of Amazon's partner sites.

Oscar Schmidt by Washburn OG10CE Full Size Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar Combo with AB Gig Bag, Stand, and Strings Review

(More customer reviews)I bought the OG10CE as a package from Austin Bazaar. As advertised it came with a stand, strings, and a gig bag. However they also included a strap, pick and a pitch pipe. The guitar is beautiful, the picture on Amazon does not do it justice. Take a look at the yellow sunburst finish here [...] to see what the pattern looks like -- mine looks like that except in a natural wood color.
I've played bass for 20 years and my wife just started playing electric guitar earlier this year. Seeing and hearing her learn made me want to give it a try too. We wanted the versatility of an acoustic electric and a smaller body that would be comfortable for both of us -- I've been playing a Steinberger bass lately so a dreadnought just felt too big for me. The built-in tuner is a nice feature, but most acoustic electrics seem to have them unless you go bottom of the line. Unplugged the guitar sounds great -- certainly not as full as a dreadnought, but I'll take that trade-off that comes with the comfort of the smaller, thinner body. Plugged in it sounds great too. The tone (3 band) and presence controls are really nice.
PROS:
Nice sound both plugged and unplugged
Very pretty wood finish -- we like just looking at it on the stand :)
Nice electronics
CONS:
haven't found any yet.
THE PACKAGE DEAL:
Pros: great price [...], free shipping, nice stand, bonus strap, pick and pitch pipe
Cons: the gig bag had an unbearable plastic smell. After washing it on "hand wash" it didn't smell any better. It literally stunk up the first floor of my house. It is also very thin and not very protective -- we bought a hard shell case and humidifier yesterday. However, the rest of the stuff you get in this package, free shipping, and the price make this an excellent deal. Maybe you can use the gig bag for a Rock Band controller. The only other con is that they only provided 3 replacement strings (GBE) not a full set, but they didn't claim they were sending a full set either. Of course the guitar comes strung with a full set -- de-tuned for shipping. But again, given the whole package it is quite a deal.

Washburn Timber Craft Series D52SWK Acoustic Guitar Review

(More customer reviews)This is the first Washburn that I have ever owned, and I am already a very convinced convert to the brand. I currently own a Yamaha acoustic guitar, a Fender Stratocaster electric guitar, and an Ovation acoustic electric guitar - the Washburn Timber Craft Series D52SW is quickly becoming my favorite to play!
TONE: The sound is full and vibrant. The very appealing tone no doubt has to do with its solid mahogany back and sides. Mahogany is known for producing a "bright, balanced tone that is darker than maple but brighter than rosewood." You don't have to strum very hard to create a fair amount of volume. Finally, the Buzz Feiten Tuning System (which is standard on all Washburn guitars) helps to correct intonation problems that other guitar brands might experience.
LOOK: The solid spruce top meshes well with the mahogany and is a timeless color that will always look great. The rosewood butterfly bridge adds some personality and matches the rosewood fingerboard. The classic coloring works well for young and old guitarists and is appropriate for any setting.
FEEL: The shape of the guitar makes for a very comfortable playing experience. It simply feels great. The strings are very easy to push against the fingerboard (as opposed to my Ovation) which means that you can play for longer periods of time without getting finger fatigue! Remember that developing callouses on your fingertips is crucial if you are a beginner or simply don't play very often.
PRICE: This guitar is clearly more expensive than your average acoustic guitar, so if you are looking for an average musical experience than this guitar is not for you. However, if you are willing to pay more for a guitar that will be much more enjoyable and rewarding for years and years to come, you will not be disappointed with this purchase.
Overall, this is an excellent buy for a reasonable price. You can't go wrong with a Washburn and the Timber Craft series is a cut above the Washburn WD and D10 series which I was also considering.

Washburn Southwestern Series Acoustic Electric Guitar Review

(More customer reviews)This is an amazing guitar for this price range. It has a wonderful, deep, rich sound that is especially good for fingerpicking but also sounds great when strummed. Grover tuners keep it right on the money. It has a 1.73 inch nut so the action is fast and smooth. PLUS it looks amazing. Quilted ash on the back and sides in addition to the butterfly, rosewood bridge and hopi fret markers etc. A great guitar at a great price with a sound that competes with guitars at much higher prices.

(More customer reviews)I had two major problems with this guitar. The photo that is pictured is a flame spruce top, one of the reasons I selected this guitar. What I recieved was a plain spruce top. The main reason I am not happy is that the tuner does not work , which I now know by hindsight, is a common problem with these guitars. Other than the obvious, the guitar does seem to be made well so I am exchanging it rather than asking for a refund. Maybe I will be surprised and everything will work as it should. OE30 Oscar Schmidt Hollow Body Electric Guitar by Washburn, Ebony, Grover Tuners Review

(More customer reviews)When you review this model on the internet, you'll read mostly praises and sometimes a complaint on the tonal quality. The praises, I understand, The complaints, they are unfounded. This guitar's tonal range is almost from a deep bass sound right thru to the harsh tinny sound. If you can't the sound you are looking for, you don't know what you are looking for. To describe sound is impossible, but the best way I can describe this guitar is the full bodied sound is so fat and full it could be a one instrument band. There is no lack in the full body sound. If someone told me this was a $[...] guitar, it would hold it's own in how it sounds. It's a shame Washburn is discontinuing it. I've already bought 2 of these and 2 of it's bigger brother the OE-40. This is one of those guitars that move your playing up to the next level. You can hear it at http://www.paprap.com in a song called led "A taste of Candy". All guitar parts were done with this guitar. My advice, buy it fast before you can't get it anymore. I need only Red and Blue and I'll own both the OE40 and OE30 Guitars in every model. I've been playing since the 70's, and this guitar (even though China Made) has impressed me that much!

I side note: I have read about flaws in the finish on some. I have two with these "flaws". They are minor. Some of the critics out there are thinking this guitar is a $[...] hand made model and the slightest imperfection is a major flaw. My take on it.. With the way this guitar sounds, it could be an unfinished rotting log and I'd still buy it for the sound. Is that clear or what?

Washburn WD10 Series WD10SCE Acoustic Electric Guitar Review

(More customer reviews)I recently picked this up for a cheaper guitar to take around. I'm very pleased with it and would recommend for a beginner, or anyone that needs a great playing guitar under $300 dollars. You are not going to find another guitar with the action, plus a cheap pickup for $250. IMHO, this is a great deal.
Plus:
Great Action/Playability
Comes with a cheap Fishman Pickup
I think Washburn's have a good even tone (high's/low's are generally balanced IMO).
Nice Look/sound for price range.
Minus:
This isn't a solid wood guitar. New guitars under $600 are mostly laminate sides and back to cut down on costs.
Like all guitars in this price range, there are plastic parts (nut, binding, pegs, etc.). To be expected.
Notes: Doesn't come with 2 pins for Guitar strap. This just means you have to get a strap that goes to head stock. Just a difference.

Washburn DK20T w/ Deluxe Gig Bag Acoustic Guitar with Built In Tuner Review

(More customer reviews)I found no reviews of the DK20 CET when I bought, so here's mine, based on 38 years onstage handling acoustic guitars.
I bought this guitar as a backup that was cutaway, and since I own a vintage (1972) Washburn Prairie Song Custom, I banked entirely on the reputation of that pinnacle of guitar craft. I realized that the guitar was mostly glitz from the ads I saw, and was not expecting a whole lot.
When I got it, the action was incredibly high, so before I even tuned it I set up the action. Brought the bridge saddle and nut down quite a bit to reasonable height for easy playability. I tuned it up then and was completely knocked out by the sound. It is a very sweet guitar, perfect blues guitar with lots of expression. But it also has a powerful bass for rhythm domination, lol.
The fretboard is virtually the size specs as the Prairie Song Custom, slightly wider than some for intricate picking. The frets are a bit uneven, but that is expected on a guitar this price. I'm going to even the frets up and lower the action a bit more.
The electronics functioned properly, Im not a big fan of the Shadow underbridge pickup, but Im going to invest in an I-Bar Baggs pickup, this guitar deserves it.
The gold tuners seem a little on the iffy side, thats the only weak point I find.
As far as workmanship, I havent found a flaw in this guitar, but can't testify to how it will hold up.
My Prairie Song Custom has held up well to 36 years of onstage abuse, and was once picked up off a stage by a tornado and still is sweet. I can only hope this DK20 does half as well. If it gives out I'll buy another.
I would have paid $600 or 700 for this guitar if I'd played it set up as it is now.
