iTab P01BK Electronic Songbook Review

(More customer reviews)I received this as a gift (It was on my wish list). I've been trying to figure it out for a couple hours and I just don't think it works the way anyone would expect. First there is no Guitar Tab used. For a given song, the major chords and there fingering are listed, for example 'Am XO221O'. Then it's just lyrics with the chord names over the change points. So it's less like Tab and more like a lyric cheat sheet. The system is supposed to scroll in time, but several songs just do not work at all. Manually scrolling to see a preview of all the lyrics is very difficult to do as there isn't a smooth scroll but rather a few line jump every time you touch the scroll bar. You can load MP3s and even create your own tab files, but the sound output via built in speaker is very weak, and through the headphone output is not very good. Additional songs are averaging $0.44 for the tab files. You can load your own MP3s. I'm going to try a bit more, but be warned, if you're used to an iPhone or similar, and expect that this is going to be the musicians version with Guitar Tab, you'll be very disappointed.

Korg DT-3 Digital Tuner Review

(More customer reviews)I've owned this tuner for 10 years and this thing keeps going. It uses 1ea 9v battery and I rarely have to replace it. I play my guitar daily and I always tune frequently. Korg is the stuff. Don't get me wrong I totally think strobe tuners are the real way to go but Korg is excellent equipment. One draw back is that my eyesight is not the greatest and its a little hard to see what note is being read in low light conditions but I will soon fix that with a Korg rack mount tuner.

Planet Waves CT-02 Multi-Function Chromatic Tuner Review

We all know the expression "Close enough for jazz/rock etc? Well with this
unit you had best hope that that is close enough..I have been using an Intellitouch headstock tuner, as
well as a Korg electronic tuner..The Planet Waves looked cool, so what the heck, whats twenty five
bucks eh? First of all the instructions are those "version in every language on the planet" things that
means that each language gets like 3 paragraphs of information. Not sufficient. So problem one
instruction manual does not instruct.
Unit also has several 'modes' of tuning.. One is a direct plug in to a 1/4" jack for an electric
guitar etc, the other is a vibration sensor, to be used with acoustic guitars or on the headstock of an electric.
Means of telling if you are in tune or not is a dial with a rotating strobe light thingy, that is suppose to turn green when your string is tuned to perfect pitch...WRONG...
Here is where the 'close enough for jazz" comes in... When or even IF you can figure out how to read the
'strobe' tuner, and you tune it just to where it should be the best, you are still at least 3 cents flat or
sharp,(That means that musicians will grind their teeth, but most non players will never know the difference) no biggie you say.. ok then close enough is good enough.. If it is not then I would skip the Planet
Waves Multi-function CT-02 and buy something that allows you to tune your guitar close enough for MUSIC..
However if you play sounds that "will turn tree toads sterile at 100 yards" This unit may be just the thing
for you...

(More customer reviews)These Grovers replaced the factory close-backed tuners that came with my Lanikai S-T Spruce Series Tenor Ukulele. I had to enlarge the holes in the peghead slightly, and drill new holes for the two screws that are included with each tuning peg. Other than that, the tuners went in very quickly. And, all hardware that you need is included in the package. Now, I have beautiful, open-backed tuners that keep my ukulele in tune no matter how often, or hard I play it.

Grover 205C Mini 3 per Side Machine Heads, Chrome Review

(More customer reviews)I bought these to install on my Epiphone Master Built ukulele thinking they were the same as those on my Oscar Schmidt ukes. Not so. They worked but they are guitar tuners. It's one of those good ideas gone bad. Just a warning if anyone had similar plans. But that's not a fault of the tuners. The decision to do this retrofit was mine and mine alone. That being said, the tuners themselves are very high quality.
I might add that I ordered these from Stage Riot Music. I believe that was the company. They screwed up the order but when I contacted them, went out of their way to make things right. That's all you can ask. Mistakes happen. I would order from them again without hesitation.

Seiko STMX1 Clip On Tuner/Metronome Tuner Review

PROS:
It's very rigid and doesn't vibrate like other tuners I've used. With other tuners you have to remove the tuner when you are playing because it vibrates, making a little bit of noise. This one is very stable and doesn't vibrate so you can leave it in position while playing.
CONS:
Back light is not automatic as in other tuners. You can tune just with the leds in the dark, but if the guitar is way out of tune or not using the usual tuning you want to check the notes displayed in the screen.
Buttons are small and ugly.
One of the worst: In metronome mode, you can increase the tempo, but you cannot decrease it!!! You have to go all the way up to 250 bpm and it starts again in 30 bpm... if you want to decrease tempo 1 bpm you have to go all the way up and up again from 30 bpm. It has 7 buttons!! Why in the world they didn't assigned one button to go down in tempo.
The volume of the metronome is not very loud. I would have prefered a louder metronome.
The tuning is not very stable, i don't know if it's because it's too sensitive, but that's not practical...sometimes there is too much variation with a very small change in tuning.
Also usually tuners have some trouble recognizing E (6th string) and recognize it as B because it's a strong harmonic. But with this one, sometimes it recognizes E (1st string) as A, which it's very weird.
I'm not returning it just because I live outside USA and shipping would be very expensive.

I had one installed in my Martin D-41. Once in place, it is easy to use. Simply reach in, turn it on, and tune away. It is invisible to everyone but you. Easy to see, and very accurate, it is always there. The battery lasts for 1,200 tunes. The unit itself is affixed by velcro, so it can easily be removed for battery replacement by removing the treble strings. I have no issues whatsoever, and could not be more pleased with this product.

Seiko STH100SE Metronome/Tuner with Stopwatch-SV Metronome Review

(More customer reviews)Before this Seiko metro-tuner, I had a Korg tuner and a Qwik Time metronome. Using them separately, they functioned well, but I couldn't use them simultaneously because the tuner kept picking up the metronome sound. Also, there wasn't enough space on the music stand to place them both along with music. I practice long scales on metronome and like to check my intonation once in a while during playing, so I started looking for an alternative.
This Seiko metro-tuner is a great multi-product with flawless features that run truly simultaneously. While one of the three functions is running, you can turn on/off/change settings of the second and/or third function without any problem. It's really awesome!
The tuner works great, is sensitive and quick enough, and never gets disturbed by the metronome sound. The metronome has a digital "tot-tot-tot" kind of sound that is soother than the Qwik Time's but is still audible over my violin. There's a volume control (upper right corner) and an earphone jack, too. I don't use the stopwatch function, but it's there if you want one.
The lights on the top light up left right with metronome beats, and this is much more helpful than both my previous metronome (one small blinking light with tiny digital dots moving on the screen) and my teacher's (big digital slider moving left-right); it's hard to keep your eyes on the metronome screen while playing music, so you end up relying on the beeps only. Since the metronome sound is sometimes dwarfed by my own playing sound, I love the visual ques that the several moving lights provide.
Also, this product has a small flip-out stand/hanger in the back that lets me hang it on the music stand. The hanger's groove isn't deep enough though, so the product fell off the music stand a few times when I bumped into the music stand by accident. But despite the falls, it's still going strong.
I recommend this highly to anyone who's looking for a tuner and a metronome. Not only you get a three-in-one product that's easy to carry around, but also being able to run multiple features simultaneously is great. If I lose this tomorrow, I won't hesitate to buy the same one again.

CenterPitch CP10 Clip-On Tuner/Intonation Trainer with Metronome Review

(More customer reviews)I play in several bands, alto and tenor saxophones. For tuning before rehearsals, in the noise of all buddies talking and warming up, this is the thing to have. It clips on to the neck of my horns, so I can see very easily how I'm tuned (I try to use my ear, but just for when it's too noisy, this is better). All my band buddies borrow it to tune their horns, too: trumpets, bones, tubas, and so on! The device can swivel, so one can always postition it in the best viewing angle.
The only thing I have a hard time remembering is what way the indicator says 'sharp' and 'flat', to the left or right... it would probably be feasable to just display those words, instead of the little 1, 2, or 3 arrows on either side! (now that's where my ears come in handy, no pun intended, lol).
All in all, I think it is definitely worth its money!

Intellitouch PT30 Classic Tuner Review
