I've been drumming for seven years, but this is my first time every playing with a metronome.
Drums are incredibly loud in the first place, and I play pretty hard, so I use earplugs. This metronome's speaker is very loud on full volume, but not quite loud enough to hear clearly over full-blast drumming.
Fortunately, the metronome has a headphone jack (1/8'' mono). I have seen some complaints about metronomes that only come out one side the headphones, but I really don't mind. With earplugs in under my headphones (~$80 over-ear style), the metronome is plenty loud. At full volume, it's too loud for me.
You can choose from 1 to 7 beats per measure, and there are 8 different rhythms (tick-tock-tock-tock; tick-tick-tick-tick; etc.). Because of all these options, it's really handy that there are two memory settings. For example, I can keep Metronome 1 on a 5-beat pattern at 220bpm and Metronome 2 on a 4-beat pattern at 180.
This metronome is everything I want in a metronome as a drummer. Its versatility is worth the slightly high price.

Stagg CTU-C Chromatic Clip Tuner Review

(More customer reviews)A great idea in theory but poorly executed. The prats are cheap and the product does not work that well. The battery cover does not fit properly and therefore does not secure the battery in place causing the equipment to freeze while showing some bizarre things on the screen. I got around the problem by placing some cotton between the battery and the cover to help hold the battery in place. That almost eliminated the freezing problem.
The other issue I am having with this problem is that it often does not read the correct pitch while in "clip" mode. But I had that same issue with the previous clip on tuner I had from a different brand so I've learned to live with it.
I would not recommend this product to anyone until they fix the battery cover issue. I do like that it comes with a pick holder though, very clever.

(More customer reviews)The bracket is OK, but if you already have a tuner with a 1/4" guitar cable input, AND a slip in soundhole pickup (like my dean markley pro mag) just put your pickup in your soundhole and plug it into your tuner. you can really hit the sweet spot that way. Let your string ring out and your needle will peg 440 and stay there!! But hey, whats $10 to try it? Dave

Tune Tech TT1000 Backlit Chromatic Tuner Review

I had one installed in my Martin D-41. Once in place, it is easy to use. Simply reach in, turn it on, and tune away. It is invisible to everyone but you. Easy to see, and very accurate, it is always there. The battery lasts for 1,200 tunes. The unit itself is affixed by velcro, so it can easily be removed for battery replacement by removing the treble strings. I have no issues whatsoever, and could not be more pleased with this product.

Cecilio 92-D Chromatic Tuner with Metronome Review

(More customer reviews)I'm a music teacher and I have several tuner/metronomes, but got this one because one of my students who is colorblind had one. I really liked it at first (the back light is pretty) and does not rely on color recognition to determine pitch accuracy. However, no matter how I configure it, the A pitch won't tune properly. This one is probably damaged, leaving me with the feeling that I wish I'd purchased an Intelli; at least I'd know it would work properly.

The tuner clamps quickly and easily onto the headstock of your instrument. The articulated mount allows you to easily maneuver the display for easy viewing. Pluck a string, and the readout shows you the closest note - and uses a simple system of arrows to show you if you're spot on or just close. Comes with a nice little protective sleeve and fits easily into the accessory box of most instrument cases.
Caution: the instructions that come with the tuner are poorly written and needlessly confusing. Suggestion: unless you need to tune off-pitch for some reason, simply do the self-test as described, just to make sure it's working properly, then clamp on, set it for the A440 mode and tune away. Takes only moments, the tune is highly accurate.

Zoid Z-1000 Clip-On Tuner by Sabine Review

(More customer reviews)The Sabine Zoid is much easier to read and use than my Intelli clip-on tuner was (that one only lasted four month before having a seizure). The Zoid's LCD meter is more stable and I like the red-to-green indicator. Very quick tuning... it picks up on open strings instantly; no need for 12th fret harmonics as with the Intelli. The mic option is a great feature; I can leave the Zoid clipped to my music stand, unless I need to take it along somewhere, and it works just as well with the mic as when clipped on. I was afraid it would be too big, but its no more obstrusive than the Intelli. There's no sympathetic buzzing like the Intelli did either. Its been going on the original battery for well over a year too.
The seller, Musical Instrument Haven, mailed it immediately. I ordered on Thursday and had it on Monday...and no shipping charge! Great!

It captures the note immediately without errors, whether the low E on an electric bass guitar or the high E on my classical guitar. It is fast enough to use real time during intonation practice/training on fretless bass. It works flawlessly on solid body and acoustic instruments. Takes a little getting used to but simply, if the rings spin clockwise, the note is sharp; if the rings spin counterclockwise the note is flat. If you can afford it, the Peterson is the best clip-on tuner out there.

Intelli Metronome & Tuner: IMT-301 with Temperature/Hygrometer Meter Review

Our first metronome was Seiko SQ50, but its max sound was easily drown out by my boys' violin and piano playing. Then when I first heard how significantly louder this was during one of my boys' violin lessons, I immediately ordered it.
This turns out to be the perfect metronome/tuner for my boys' both violin and piano practices. It not only tunes their violin perfectly each and every time, but it is loud enough that it doesn't get drown out by their playing instruments. Yet, it is small enough to be carried around inside a violin case or in your pocket. Some folks might not appreciate the fact that the source of the sound is on the metronome's back side and not the front. However, the sound is big and clear enough that it makes no difference for us. If we want the loudest sound possible, then we just turn it around.
It comes with a pull out stand, so it can be self-standing on any flat surfaces. The fact that it also functions as a temperature meter (in both farenheit and celcius) and a hygrometer is an absolute plus, as any serious musicians would need to monitor their environment in both the temperature and humidity levels for the safe keeping of their instruments. With this multi-functioning perfect unit, I don't think I'll ever be looking for another.
By the way, it's also a very handsome looking unit -- an additional plus! I'd highly recommend this product.
