George Washburn Limited All Koa Concert Ukulele Review

George Washburn Limited All Koa Concert Ukulele
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just got this uke a few days ago, and I absolutely love it. I would give it 5 stars in a heartbeat. I immediately changed the nylon strings out for Aquila nylgut strings because they had terrible sound and felt too stretchy. After that improvement I couldn't be happier. Build quality is immaculate, finish is great, playability is fantastic, and the tone is bright and loud. I'd recommend it to anyone (with a new set of strings). Now that there is finally a review, nobody has to take a stab in the dark for this beautiful uke.

iTab P01BK Electronic Songbook Review

iTab P01BK Electronic Songbook
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I received this as a gift (It was on my wish list). I've been trying to figure it out for a couple hours and I just don't think it works the way anyone would expect. First there is no Guitar Tab used. For a given song, the major chords and there fingering are listed, for example 'Am XO221O'. Then it's just lyrics with the chord names over the change points. So it's less like Tab and more like a lyric cheat sheet. The system is supposed to scroll in time, but several songs just do not work at all. Manually scrolling to see a preview of all the lyrics is very difficult to do as there isn't a smooth scroll but rather a few line jump every time you touch the scroll bar. You can load MP3s and even create your own tab files, but the sound output via built in speaker is very weak, and through the headphone output is not very good. Additional songs are averaging $0.44 for the tab files. You can load your own MP3s. I'm going to try a bit more, but be warned, if you're used to an iPhone or similar, and expect that this is going to be the musicians version with Guitar Tab, you'll be very disappointed.

The metronome is just the right size for me. It works just fine for practicing by myself. Not so great for chamber rehearsal, though---no one in my trio could hear it. But otherwise, just fine!

I use this for my ukulele and guitar! The title says violin but after speaking to the manufacturer I discovered it will work on anything that vibrates. The product arrived in record time. The strap is an extra perk. I needed a strap and feel like I got it for free.

Korg DT-3 Digital Tuner Review

Korg DT-3 Digital Tuner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've owned this tuner for 10 years and this thing keeps going. It uses 1ea 9v battery and I rarely have to replace it. I play my guitar daily and I always tune frequently. Korg is the stuff. Don't get me wrong I totally think strobe tuners are the real way to go but Korg is excellent equipment. One draw back is that my eyesight is not the greatest and its a little hard to see what note is being read in low light conditions but I will soon fix that with a Korg rack mount tuner.

Planet Waves CT-02 Multi-Function Chromatic Tuner Review

Planet Waves CT-02 Multi-Function Chromatic Tuner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

We all know the expression "Close enough for jazz/rock etc? Well with this
unit you had best hope that that is close enough..I have been using an Intellitouch headstock tuner, as
well as a Korg electronic tuner..The Planet Waves looked cool, so what the heck, whats twenty five
bucks eh? First of all the instructions are those "version in every language on the planet" things that
means that each language gets like 3 paragraphs of information. Not sufficient. So problem one
instruction manual does not instruct.
Unit also has several 'modes' of tuning.. One is a direct plug in to a 1/4" jack for an electric
guitar etc, the other is a vibration sensor, to be used with acoustic guitars or on the headstock of an electric.
Means of telling if you are in tune or not is a dial with a rotating strobe light thingy, that is suppose to turn green when your string is tuned to perfect pitch...WRONG...
Here is where the 'close enough for jazz" comes in... When or even IF you can figure out how to read the
'strobe' tuner, and you tune it just to where it should be the best, you are still at least 3 cents flat or
sharp,(That means that musicians will grind their teeth, but most non players will never know the difference) no biggie you say.. ok then close enough is good enough.. If it is not then I would skip the Planet
Waves Multi-function CT-02 and buy something that allows you to tune your guitar close enough for MUSIC..
However if you play sounds that "will turn tree toads sterile at 100 yards" This unit may be just the thing
for you...

Grover STA-TITETM GEARED UKULELE PEGS 8N Review

Grover STA-TITETM GEARED UKULELE PEGS 8N
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These Grovers replaced the factory close-backed tuners that came with my Lanikai S-T Spruce Series Tenor Ukulele. I had to enlarge the holes in the peghead slightly, and drill new holes for the two screws that are included with each tuning peg. Other than that, the tuners went in very quickly. And, all hardware that you need is included in the package. Now, I have beautiful, open-backed tuners that keep my ukulele in tune no matter how often, or hard I play it.

Planet Waves TU01 Tuner Up Bracket Review

Planet Waves TU01 Tuner Up Bracket
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The bracket is OK, but if you already have a tuner with a 1/4" guitar cable input, AND a slip in soundhole pickup (like my dean markley pro mag) just put your pickup in your soundhole and plug it into your tuner. you can really hit the sweet spot that way. Let your string ring out and your needle will peg 440 and stay there!! But hey, whats $10 to try it? Dave

Grover 205C Mini 3 per Side Machine Heads, Chrome Review

Grover 205C Mini 3 per Side Machine Heads, Chrome
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought these to install on my Epiphone Master Built ukulele thinking they were the same as those on my Oscar Schmidt ukes. Not so. They worked but they are guitar tuners. It's one of those good ideas gone bad. Just a warning if anyone had similar plans. But that's not a fault of the tuners. The decision to do this retrofit was mine and mine alone. That being said, the tuners themselves are very high quality.
I might add that I ordered these from Stage Riot Music. I believe that was the company. They screwed up the order but when I contacted them, went out of their way to make things right. That's all you can ask. Mistakes happen. I would order from them again without hesitation.

Shar Metro Tuner Review

Shar Metro Tuner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The thing about this chromatic tuner/metronome/pitch reference, is that the thing is cheap. First of all it costs very little to buy. But that also means that the construction is not especially robust. The thing is very lightweight, and a couple of nasty falls could take it out. (Actually the first one I had fell a LOT, and kept on clicking for over two years). But ultimately, if it breaks, just buy a new one. Why would this be worth it? Supreme functionality.
First it's a fully functional chromatic tuner, with 1/4" instrument input jack. Gotta have that feature. You can adjust the reference frequency, from 430Hz to 450Hz. (Does anyone use anything besides 440Hz?) Very clear readings for the tuner, with bright LED lights accompanying the tuner gauge.
Here's my fav part: The metronome! Digitally adjustable from 30bpm to 250bpm. Built in speaker, WITH A VOLUME CONTROL, and a headphone jack. Volume is important feature. It will also subdivide for you at any tempo. You can have it play 1 on every beat, eighth note subdivide, eighth note triplets, eighth note triplets with the middle one omitted (for a swing feel), sixteenth notes, and sixteenth notes with the middle two omitted (for a horse trot feel or something). It sounds a slightly different tone on the beat than on the subdivisions. Additionally, it will give you a very strong downbeat at the beginning of each bar if you want. It's a higher pitched tone. You have the option of how many beats in the bar -- 0 (no downbeat, just constant) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9. You can pretty much get any combination for any type of feel you want to play with. Very useful.
Then the pitch reference. It will play a pitch (volume controlled), any chromatic note, again adjustable reference from 430Hz to 450Hz. One little thing that other tuners have pissed me off, this one doesn't: This allows you to select you pitch in either direction from where you're at. If it's set to C# and I want it to play C, I can arrow down once. Others would make you arrow UP eleven times to get to that C.
Good stuff. I just bought two actually, because they're so cheap I can afford to keep one at home, take one on the road. I do a lot of working with kids, so if I'm ever in a situation where there is a need to have a tuner, it's no problem for me to just leave this with them, and buy a new one. Thanks Shar for your cheap products! This is perfect for someone who is careful with their gear, doesn't want to pay a lot, and wants huge functionality. Not for someone who's going to get pissed when they drop their tuner and it starts acting funny. Doesn't break necessarily, just acts funny for awhile.

Boss Stage Tuner for Guitar and Bass Review

Boss Stage Tuner for Guitar and Bass
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The BOSS TU-1000 floor tuner functions very well and has a multitude of features for tuning an electric instrument. The LED display is large enough for anyone to see including those with limited vision. One of the best features is the optional muting of the signal for silent tuning which also be un muted for tuning during performance. Numerous features allow for various tunings, and can be set according to the users desire.
However, much to my surprise, the unit was much larger and heavier than I remembered when I saw it on display before purchasing. Also, the unit will require a carrying case to prevent damage such as a padded drummers stick case.

Shadow Sonic Tuner For Acoustic Guitar Soundholes Review

Shadow Sonic Tuner For Acoustic Guitar Soundholes
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Shadow Sonic acoustic sound hole tuner is a genius device. Completely foolproof, you never have to worry about leaving your clip-on at home. I had one installed in my Martin D-41. Once in place, it is easy to use. Simply reach in, turn it on, and tune away. It is invisible to everyone but you. Easy to see, and very accurate, it is always there. The battery lasts for 1,200 tunes. The unit itself is affixed by velcro, so it can easily be removed for battery replacement by removing the treble strings. I have no issues whatsoever, and could not be more pleased with this product.
