(More customer reviews)This is a nice sounding ukulele from Kala. Intonation is spot on all the way up the neck. Looks beautiful, too, especially the slotted head stock. My only complaint with Kala (and Lanikai) is the neck could be a little wider, at least for my hands. And though the sound is nice and bright, mine at least lacks the warmer, deeper sound of other ukes. Granted, my Kamakas have a much warmer, deeper sound, but they cost several hundred dollars more. Maybe it's just me, but I think the Kala solid mahogany series sound nicer. I may try to change the strings on my Kala Acacia uke. Many seem to do that with this model. This is still a nice ukulele though. I don't regret getting it. I would recommend trying one out in a music store first, if you have one nearby.

Grizzly H3125 Ukulele Kit Review

(More customer reviews)If you consider that the body of the Ukulele comes ready built, the fretboard comes finished and with frets installed, and the neck/head are already formed this is a great kit for the price. Don't expect a top quality instrument, but use this kit as an introduction to what building a Ukulele is all about. The top and bottom of the soundbox are made of beautiful striped sapele mahogany plywood that is really stunning. The sides are not particularly attractive luan plywood. The body is well assembled with internal liners but no bracing that I can see. All the parts are well sanded and ready for finish sanding, staining and finishing. The tuners and strings are inexpensive but adequate. The directions are badly translated Chinese, but the construction is easy to figure out. The neck is to be attached by a simple butt joint, but I would suggest additonal strengthing with dowels. I would suggest shortening the nut to first fret distance by at least 1/16" for better intonation. The string height is not specified in the directions, so you better know how to adjust that properly for good playing.
The instrument I built worked out fine, the sound is not particularly loud compared to better instruments. I changed the strings to Aquila Nylgut with much better results.

Kala Makala Concert Ukulele Starter Pack Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased the starter pack for my husband for Christmas. He was happy with it, but it did not come with a Clip-On Chromatic Tuner as stated in the product description. Instead it came with a "pitch tuner" which is irritating and misleading. One of the main reasons I got this specific pack was because of the clip-on tuner. I see that another review had the same experience after I purchased the pack. It's okay for use and my husband is happy, but if I had to do over I would have gone with a different pack.

Kala KA-C Mahogany Concert Ukulele Review

(More customer reviews)This uke took about 2 weeks to stablize the strings, neck, and tuning pegs. After it settled in, it really shined and still shines. I just picked it up after letting it collect dust for 2 months and it was in perfect tune. I am satisfied with the quality of the product. THe intonation up the frets is very close to dead on which means there was some engineering skill put into this peice. Very fair quality/price ratio here. If ever I get time to pass away, this will be part of my entourage.
Warning: Can be hard to put down or pass by without picking up.

It's a beautifully crafted ukulele that comes with a soft case, an instruction booklet and a clip on tuner. I didn't know there were so many different kinds of ukuleles, but after reading up on them, I figured that this concert size would be perfect. I highly recommend this product for beginners.

Lanikai NK-T Custom Series Koa Tenor Ukulele Review

(More customer reviews)I have played many ukuleles and to me this by far sounds the best. The natural Koa seems to resonate more than the standard Koa or curly Koa ukuleles. I did switch out my strings as soon as I got it for some black strings with the low string being a metal wound string but that's a personal preference. The workmanship is beautiful. I was skeptical originally because I am the type to try before I buy. I had the S-TEQ before this and didn't like the "bright" sound compared to the softer Koa sound. I will try to post a video review so you can hear it.

Lanikai LU-21C Concert Ukulele Review

(More customer reviews)I went to an OMEA convention and went to a vendor stand with a variety of Ukulele and the best one there was the Lanikai S-C. I wanted to save some money so I decided to go with the LU-21C. It's the same quality of build, but has a mahogany plywood top instead of a spruce top. This means that it lacks some higher overtones (it's warmer, darker, what ever you want to say.) I've played many crappy instruments for around this price range and bellow and this one is not a crappy instrument. The only thing that needed some set up was the nut, but that is a common problem and a quick fix on most low end guitars and ukes. Most manufacturers ship such instruments out with a high nut. Are you not sure you want a ukulele? Get this one to find out.

Oscar Schmidt OU5 Concert Ukulele Review

(More customer reviews)I bought my first beginner ukulele only six months ago, but enjoyed enough that I decided to move up from the toy class to something a little better. The OU5 was on sale at under a hundred dollars, but I have to say that the leap in quality and sound far outweighed the $70 price difference between this and my first ukulele. Like others who have rated Oscar Schmidt products, I have been impressed by the beautiful finish of this instrument, but it's the improved action and sound quality that totally won me over. Go ahead and buy your $20 Rogue instrument to see if you like the ukulele, but when you're ready to step up to the next level (but perhaps aren't ready to shell out $250), this is a solid stepping stone. I'm really happy with this instrument. Keep your really cheap one to take to the beach, though. You'll like this one enough that you won't want someone grinding sand into the finish or spilling beer on it.
