(More customer reviews)I purchased the Guitar Port XT to try to eliminate a lot of the pedals I have in my set up while also getting a few more effects that I do not have. That was kind of a hit and miss affair. The effects built in are good. They are also highly tweekable so you can get just about any sound you want. You can't change effects on the fly, so you'd still need rack effects to accomplish that. But, for most of my purposes, I just need a distortion or overdrive attached after the line out along with a wah, envelope filer, and maybe a flanger (since there isn't one in the software).
As far as the software is concerned, it's OK but not wonderful. It's a bit of a chore to set up your own sound and even to find a preset. The former should be a chore, but the latter is a bit of a disappointment. It needs more settings available from the downloads, maybe even setting downloadable from a community blog. There may be one, but I don't know about it. I've been cheating and I've been going to Boss's website to look up other effect settings, though a lot of the effect settings there are similar to the ones in the software.
Bottom line is that it's worth the $100. If you can drag a computer to your gig and don't change effects much, this will do an admirable job. It's an interesting an fun tool if not a little limited.

Line 6 FBV-Express Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this for my Spider III 75, it helps a great deal. It works the second you plug it in, but the manual provides instructions for calibrating the volume pedal, which only takes about 30 sec (20 to figure out how, then 10 to do it lol). As far as the manual is concerned... its quite breif... its big only cuz its in like 12 different languages... but honesly, this device has all the instruction you need printed on it. Also, forgot the mention that the cable provided is 20ft long!
The one thing i was a little dissappointed with when i got it was that the wah funtion of the pedal seemed to be a little chunky... like there were only 3 or 4 degrees of tone i could get out of it. I passed it off as "Well i supposes if i want a good wah sound im going to have to get a seperate pedal". But the other day i noticed my pedal was getting kinda stiff and was squeaking, so i popped of the bottom panel and sprayed some WD-40 on the hinge for the pedal... Eureka! Not only did it fix the squeaking, but my wah sound is much fuller and satisfying.
UPDATE: I have had a couple of the LEDs for the tuner go out on me. The ones that do go out aren't 100% dead. Seems that some of the time they will light up. If you prefer specifics... my LED just sharp of In-tune is out about 90% of the time, the one just sharp of that one goes about about 1% of the time. It's annoying, and mildly dissappointing but I manage to deal with it provided the LED for In-Tune doesnt start going out regularly. I haven't bothered to see if this is mearly something a little soldering could fix or if the LED itself is actually dead now. At any rate it's not a huge concern as the Tuner display on the amp itself still works. But i should add that despite the short amount of time i have had this pedal (~8 months) it's had it's fair share of knocks, kicks and slaps. I chalk that up to unavoidable wear and tear, but its worth noting.
Another thing i should mention is to make sure you keep it clean. The electronics inside aren't 100% sealed from the outside. Dust and hair does accumulate inside and I found out the hard way that it will eventually start screwing with the circuitry inside and make the wah/volume pedal do some undesirable things. It's a quick and simple fix though, just open it up, blow out the dirt and close it back up.
If Amazon would allow it, I would probably change my rating to 4/5. But that would be a 4 with a 'Well yeah, I personally experienced some minor drawbacks. But yours could be perfectly fine!' I also feel i should say something about the cable (as someone else as pointed out it's very similar to most ethernet cables) as i have my own gripe with it. The connections for the cable have that little plastic tab that locks the cable in place and as is standard these days, the cable has a sleeve that protects this tab from breaking off. Now, when you plug this cable into the amp, the depression for the connection is quite tight and actually makes it rather difficult to push the tab down through the sleeve to disconnect the cable. I found myself snipping off the part of the sleeve that protects the tab just so it was easier to disconnect the cable.
So yeah. On a level of functionality and convinience its well above par. But on a technical level, its not without its faults. But they can certainly be overcome with a little effort.

I had been waiting for the ship date of the spider jam for some time and I was not disappointed! The backing tracks sound great, the artist created presets are awesome, and the drum tracks sound very professional! The features of this amp are great and most of all fun. Line 6 has a reputation for absolutely awesome sounding guitar amps and the spider jam is no exception. The hours really fly by when you're having fun and I really have given my guitars lots of playing time but is that not the point? Line 6 M13 Stompbox Modeler Review

(More customer reviews)The M13 is an outstanding piece of gear. I've never really loved Line 6's amp/cab modeling stuff. I had the HD147 and liked it for a couple years. But I could never get the tone I wanted. Then I bought a tube amp. A Crate Palomino V32. But lost all the versatility with effects. So then I bought the POD X3L. It had no depth and took all the character out of the amp. So I went the all pedal route. Boss DD-20, L6 Verbzilla, Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Classic overdrive pedal. Blackstar HT-Dual OD/Dist, etc. I was really happy!!
Then I saw the M13. I was totally floored by how many different effects that were in there and the versatility of routing the "pedals" in order of one another. ITS SO VERSATILE!! The effect quality is right up there with their 4 button stomps (DL4, MM4, DM4, and FM4) after all it was designed to encompass all of those pedals into one package that has a footprint that is just a couple inches bigger than 2 of the 4 button stomps.
The tone of my amp stays the same, and I have all of the delays, reverbs, mods that I could ever use!! You can still use any of your analog pedals (I still have my Blackstar) because there is an onboard effects loop and you can route your existing effects before, after, or anywhere in the middle of the M13. Its incredible!!
I'm so happy I bought this pedal, and it was worth every single penny!! Try one out for yourself and you'll be pleasantly surprised with it!! If you don't like Line 6 gear because you're a tube junkie, forget all of what you thought you knew about Line 6 and try this pedal as soon as you can. I think Line 6 may have taken a new turn with their products and this is definitely an awesome new direction for the company. This pedal rocks!!!

Line 6 Spider IV 120 120-watt 2x10 Modeling Guitar Amplifier Review

(More customer reviews)I cannot begin to say what a pleasure this amp is to play. The clean sound is what I play primarily and thus, the 4 star rating. It sounds great clean yet the fiddling around with the menu to get presets that are suitable for jazz and the like take time. No big deal with time issues if you're one well versed with digital menus. For dudes like me (perhaps many) this is a fine piece of workmanship with the built in tuner and all, but I just want to turn on the tube sounding warmth of an old TWIN or VOX and play mellow. Again, if one is inclined, mellow sounds will come out of this superlative amp and I am only thinking of selling mine because I just need less power and less menu stuff.
Like amateur radio, many of the new gear out is menu driven versus simplicity. I am hardly one who does not like to tinker, but when tinkering is all one is doing an playing your instrument takes second seat, there is a slight problem. So, this is based on my ineptitude rather than the amplifier's capabilities and build.
A four out of five is very good given my admission to menu driven gear as a weakness on my part.
You'll love it if you love reading manuals or have much time to tinker. Overall, the amp is superb. PERIOD.

Line 6 POD HD 400 Review

(More customer reviews)I just got this pedaleboard to replace my POD xt live. The packaging was good and got it the next day with amazon prime
So far I tried the factory presets and made a few of my own.
First of all, HD modeling is a great upgrade from previous pods, it does sound diferent, I'm not and audio tech or anything like that, it really feels very close the real thing.
With this one you get fewer amp modeling, but they are 16 greatly modeled amps, and you can tweak every aspect of it to make it sound how you want.
I like the fact that now with line 6 edit you can tweak the signal, you can use pre or post effect and the GUI from the new version is really intuitive.
The advantage of the 400 is that you have the bank selector and is to my opinion less confusing than the 500.
This is really an improvement I really like the new tone, the distrotion for metal are great, and lots of weird sound effects if you're more into experimental stuff
The only thing I would complain about is: 1. You have to download the manual from the line 6 page
2. It doesn't have an off switch (that's not a bad thing its just I don't like to be pluging every time I want to use it)
Is this better than the 300?? no, Tone is the same, just a few more effects, but I like to have the bank selector separate front the other switches.
Is this worth it or should I get the 500? A friend has the 500 and I got really confused making the tones, with so much stuff you can do, you have to be really patient and organized in order to get the tone you want, with 400 is just tweaking a few of the knobs and that's it ready to rock. If you just want play music with good tone and no spend time tweaking stuff the 400 is for you and you save yourself some money.

Vox ToneLab ST Guitar Multi-Effects Processor Pedal Review

(More customer reviews)I A/B'd this extensively with the POD X3 before purchasing it. I went with this because it gave a much more convincing emulation of a tube amp, particularly played clean. It just had a body and sparkle to the sound I could never get out of the POD. The problem, I have discovered over time, is that it acts like a single-channel amp that is not easily switchable between a good clean sound and a good overdriven sound at anywhere near the same volume. This is because it only sounds really good with the master volume cranked all the way up. With the master volume all the way up, a good low-gain sound is going to be way quieter than a good high-gain sound. This can be compensated for with the power level knob on the back of the unit, but this knob is not programmable, making it impossible to switch directly between clean and overdriven without a huge volume jump - you'd have to adjust the power level knob every time, or live with an anemic overdriven sound if you lower the master volume. The built-in distortion/overdrive effects are not tweakable enough to really make up for this, either. Also, its capabilities as an audio/recording interface are minimal compared to the POD. So, in summary: much better tube amp emulation than the POD, but only within a very particular range of adjustability, making it a cool practice tool but not really practical for live performance.

Line 6 FBV Express MkII 4-button Foot Controller Review

(More customer reviews)The Line 6 FBV Express MkII Foot Controller works great with my Line 6 Spider amp. I never fully utilized all of the features of the amplifier until I got the foot controller. Having to reach down and change settings on the amp by hand is awkward and interrupts the music. The foot controlled access to four pre-sets, the tuner, and volume is fantastic. I really like the wah pedal as well.
The only difficulty I had was updating the firmware (Flash Memory). The calibration procedure suggested in the manual wasn't available until the firmware was updated. When I plugged the foot controller into my computer (Windows 7 64-bit OS) to update the firmware, Windows 7 wouldn't install the necessary USB driver automatically and there was no way to manually install a driver. I'm not sure if this is a Windows 7 compatibility problem or if there's something unusual about my particular computer. I got around the USB driver problem by using XP mode (available in Windows 7 Professional).
In XP mode the USB driver installed automatically and the Line 6 Monkey update utility worked as advertized.
Once the newer firmware was installed the calibration procedure went smoothly. Honestly, the FBV MKII foot controller seemed to work well right out of the box without calibration and I'm not sure if updating the firmware and calibrating it was absolutely necessary.
Since getting the FBV Express MkII I can't imagine playing without it.

Line 6 FBV Shortboard MkII Foot Controller Review

(More customer reviews)This review is specific to the FBV Shortboard with a Line 6 Spider IV amp.
I bought my Line6 Spider IV 75 (1x12) amp about 6 months ago and just recently bought the FBV Shortboard as I'm playing in a band again. I was fairly underwhelmed with the amp before acquiring the shortboard. Now, it seems like a seriously worthwhile amp that I can gig with.
A bit of background on me, I've been playing for close to 15 years, both casually and semi-seriously, as an amateur musician. I've owned everything from boutique tube amps (eg Egnater IE4) to simple old tube amps (50's Fender). For a while I thought Line 6 products were beneath me. I even considered buying the Spider IV "settling." Now? I'm definitely changing my tune. Discussion about the tone of the amp aside, the shortboard is the difference between the Spider IV being a neat toy for home and an amp you can actually use in live settings. The simplicity of having your entire rig in one amp and a single pedal unit with only a single 110V power supply between them is great. No worrying about a patch cable going bad or running out of 9V batteries. No weird hum from the poorly grounded club and your vintage tremelo pedal. It's nice.
Down to the board specifically... right out of the box, you can switch between banks and presets, turn the four categories of effects (stomp, modulation, delay, reverb) on or off, control tap speed, turn on the gain boost, run the looper and have a switchable volume/wah pedal. That's a lot of stuff with no setup. And if you spend a lot of time with the amp, you really don't need much more from there.
When you plug into your computer and use the Line 6 edit software, you can get a lot more out of this thing. For one, it's a lot easier to change the presets on your amp. You have much more finite control over every amp/effect setting. Plus, you have access to things you normally wouldn't. For example, if you are using the pitch shifter, you can set it to be controlled by the expression pedal. You can set any of the time-based effects to be tap controlled or run off a specific delay time. You can copy/paste presets as well. Beyond that, it's a lot easier to be organized with designing your amp settings. For me at least, I like having a graphical view of all my volume settings and the ability to move presets around with a mouse so I can make sure everything I'll use while playing a given set is in a place that makes sense and one channel won't be considerably louder/quieter.

Line 6 Spider IV 75 75-watt 1x12 Modeling Guitar Amplifier Review

(More customer reviews)I started two years ago with a 15 watt Spider III, then along with other amps, bought a Spider Jam. I thought they were all great. Now they come out with Spider IV, and the difference in the sound is dramatic. They are getting very, very close to tube sound. So much so that for the lousy $299, compared to say $1000+ for 75 watts of tube, this is a real steal.
Loaded with features, and hundreds of presets, it has something for everyone. The Pitch Shifter and 18 available manual settings just add to the fun. And it will work with either generation of FBV pedalboard. Says so right in the manual. The only difference I see is with the generation II pedal you get a USB port.
Does it sound as creamy and smooth as my Peavey Delta Blues or Crate Palomino tube units? No, there is still a little digital overlay around in there. But most people who are looking for a great home based amp, or maybe a church or small gig amp, this is a WINNER and the price is just nuts. Forget the Peavy Vyper, this is hands down much better and you don't have to sink another couple hundred in a pedal to get to all the presets like the Vyper.

Line 6 POD 2.0 Review

(More customer reviews)I've been playing guitar for 15 years now, and I've had a few different amps and heaps of stomp boxes over the years. Nothing will ever replace a real amp, or analogue stomp boxes, and I'm not claiming this little gadget will. So here's my situation and my impression of the Line 6 Pod 2.0:
I live in an apartment. My amps are long since gone (needed the money, so I sold them) but I really wanted something to plug into. Buying an amp really wasn't an option, unless I also wanted to find a new place to stay. I worked at Guitar Center years back and I remembered toying with these during the down time. So I picked one up a few months ago. I've been running it through my stereo system, and for what I do with it, I really can't complain.
The various amp models are all decent. You're not going to get a true Boogie or Marshall stack sound out of this. It does well enough so you can tell what it's emulating, but that's it. The special effects are nice. Simple to use and very functional. I really like all the knobs it has on it, as it allows you to sculpt your tone.
You'll hear some people complain about this. "It sounds sterile" or "That's not what a Vox sounds like..." Well, they're not wrong, but anyone looking for a pure sound out of a $200 digital device can't be that bright. The Pod gets the idea across, and it does a good job doing so.
I recommend the Line 6 Pod if:
*You live in an apartment and you can't have a real amp without getting evicted

You will not believe the amazing sounds that can come out of this little box. The Clean amp model sounds as sweet as honey, and the Insane model kicks-out down-and-dirty, soul-satisfying distortion. There are two other amplifier models (Crunch and Metal) that pretty much cover the gamut of electric guitar amplification sounds. All six effects sound good, and this amp is light enough to haul around easily.

Line 6 Pocket POD Review

(More customer reviews)This thing is great for practicing with head phones. The wide variety of sounds make for a more authentic practice session (so when you're playing U2 songs, you don't sound like ACDC and vice versa) and makes practicing more fun.
The only big downside is that it sucks down power like nobody's business. I bought four high-end AAA batteries and the Pod ate them in a about a week of playing for less than 2 hours a night. Furthermore, the manual states that only non-rechargeable batteries (or the optional AC adapter) should be used. I now plan to buy the Line 6 DC1, which is line 6's 9 volt adapter, from Amazon soon.
Another, much smaller downside is that the real manual is only available in PDF format from Line 6's web site. But if you're at Amazon, you probably have an internet connection.
While getting the manual, you should probably also download Vyzex, which is Line 6's software for editing the tones from the Pocket Pod. This software isn't absolutely necessary for using the Pocket pod, but it does make editing tones somewhat easier, and it also allows the use of download tones (which work somewhat like synthesizer patches.) I also think the software could be better designed.
Still, I'm very pleased with the product. When you consider it's cost versus the cost of an amp head, plus stomp boxes, etc., the variety of amps and effects modeled, and the fact that the Pocket Pod doesn't take up much space at all, it's a great deal, especially someone like me who practices in an apartment.

(More customer reviews)Call me nuts but I love this amp. Good clean channel and great dirty. Seperate EQ's for both channels. The countour control on the dirty channel lets you dial in different amp sound from vintage to modern. I get a f'ing superb AC/DC sound on this amp and it packs a punch volume-wise. No probs this getting over drums bass and another guitar. The efects are good - 4 of each Chorus, Flange, Delay and Reverb. You cant adjust any of these effects, they come as they are. The only thing you can adjust is the level of the effect you're using. So if timing a delay is very important to you, then you're best using a pedal which you can regulate. I do love the delay in this amp though. There's a tube "switch" that supposedly kicks in the real sound of tubes. Well not quite. Using this feature sounds great at low volumes but when you're cranking it I find it muddies the sound a bit. It sounds fine when this is not activated.
It's light as well and that's a major plus as I've dragged around Fender Deville and that weighs a ton. I barely see reviews for this but I see plenty for the transtube The Peavy Bandit (which I also own). This is every bit as good as that, and the Bandit is a great little amp. It could do with a mid control on the clean channel and this is the main gripe I have with this amp. The countour does the job on the gain channel. Still, the clean sound is nice. Just dont expect a Vox or Fender nice. Remember you're paying 5 times plus less.
I'm a basic player in terms of what I want. Ive been playing for 30 years plus and I need a basic layout. No 5,000 knobs on an amp and a college degree needed to operate it for this guy. I have heard stories about Behringer quality but I've had this for 6 months and use it regularly and it's still holding up as good as day one. For the price its awesome. If you want a great little amp at a bargain price, especailly if youre a beginner, then seriously try this out!
