Wittner 7/8 - 4/4 Cello Ultra Composite Tailpiece with 4-tuners and Nylon Tailgut Review

Wittner 7/8 - 4/4 Cello Ultra Composite Tailpiece with 4-tuners and Nylon Tailgut

I just purchased a used Franz Hoffman Maestro Cello out of Ann Arbor Michigan. That cello came with this very tailpiece. It works very well. After receiving an ebony tailpiece out of a Tulsa Strings Store with the heavy metal Wittner individual fine tuners, I made my decision not to use that one based on the composite comparison in hand.
I have a second cello, an Eastman Strings 200 Series Cello which requires setup. This cello will receive the same tailpiece and was actually recommended by the luthier in Tulsa after I'd purchased the ebony. I love honesty but I'd also like to hear from others. I'm curious why anyone would pay 51 dollars for a Wittner Aluminum tailpiece when this one is available for 23 dollars?

Wittner 15.5" - 16.5" Viola Ultra Composite Tailpiece with 4-tuners and Nylon Tailgut Review

Beautifully made using latest high-tech materials make this tailpiece lighter than any other I have tried. This provided a small but noticable improvement in the voice of my instrument. Also it was easy to get the afterlenght just right with this part so I am pleased in all respects. Well worth the price. The only thing that could make it better and kept me from giving five stars is a minor redesign allowing a bar for the strings to rest on between the adjusters and the nut would keep the string lengths uniform and prevent minor voice changes as the fine tuners move through their range.
Still, very much worth the price and light, attractive, and good sounding. I am well pleased.

p.s. I have Wittner Ultras on my violin and cello as well and the same apply to them as the above for my viola.

N-Tune Humbucker style OnBoard Chromatic Guitar and Bass Tuner Review

I bought this because of an incredible price drop. I think now I would pay full price to put one in another guitar. I did have to deepen the well inside the guitar, which I did with my dremel. Some people may not want to do this, but I had already re-routed the body to fit humbuckers. Check the depth before you buy. The wiring was simple and it turned on the first time. You'll want to have basic soldering skills to install or know someone who can.
How it works: simple. pull the knob out and the led lights below the tuner disc do a nice little flash to let you know its working. Pluck a string and two of the leds will light up. The first shows you which string you are tuning (E, A, D, etc) and the second shows you if you are sharp, flat or in tune. I haven't checked the accuracy in any scientific way, but it does match another tuner and seemed to be in-tune playing with the band.
A great way to save space on the pedal board and much cheaper than any decent true-bypass tuner.

I purchased this tailpiece for a violin that I made. Being a beginning violin student it is a great help to have fine tuners on all strings. So far it seems to work well, stays in tune, etc.
