Mendini MCT-E B Flat Black Ebonite ABS Clarinet w/ Case, Tuner, Stand, Mouthpiece, Box of 10 Reeds, Cork Grease, & a Pair of Gloves Review

Mendini MCT-E B Flat Black Ebonite ABS Clarinet w/ Case, Tuner, Stand, Mouthpiece, Box of 10 Reeds, Cork Grease, and a Pair of Gloves
Average Reviews:

Considering why I bought this Clarinet, it served its purpose: being a novelty PURPLE clarinet. It was cheap, so I didn't expect it to be that great, and it came with everything it said it would. The body is made of plastic, the keys feel somewhat cheap, and the silver plating isn't fastened on the bell correctly. This is a great clarinet to start out on or simply do what I did: show off. I can hit all the notes I can hit on my other Bb Clarinet, so the quality isn't compromised that much, it's just the feel of it.

Cecilio 92-D Chromatic Tuner with Metronome Review

Cecilio 92-D Chromatic Tuner with Metronome
Average Reviews:

I'm a music teacher and I have several tuner/metronomes, but got this one because one of my students who is colorblind had one. I really liked it at first (the back light is pretty) and does not rely on color recognition to determine pitch accuracy. However, no matter how I configure it, the A pitch won't tune properly. This one is probably damaged, leaving me with the feeling that I wish I'd purchased an Intelli; at least I'd know it would work properly.

This is a great product. If your having trouble your guitar may be severly out of tune or set to a different pitch, turn unit on, hit the calib button till the 6e light is on then stum the 6th (thickest string) if the light changes to a differnt string dont worry, turn the tuning peg on the 6th string whilst stumming untill u see the light for 6e come on, keep at it, it will happen, you may have to turn alot in each direction (usually tighter) but dont give up. then just repeat for the rest of the strings, hope this helps.

This product is great and simple. Turn it on, plug in in and start tuning. I just used it to tune the strings on my new Fender Telecaster. I was done and ready to play in no time at all. I love this tuner. To put it simply, if this tuner was ever lost or stolen, I'd want to replace it right away.

Small and lightweight. Accurate. Provides you with a visual guide to tune by flashing in green to signify "in tune" with the string name. I use it in the "mic" mode but it can be clipped to the neck of the guitar.

Planet Waves NS Capo Tuner Review

Planet Waves NS Capo Tuner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I want to preface this review by saying that I ended up NOT BUYING this capo. I've been wanting this capo for a long time, but I never got around to picking one up. Then after a little research, I'm glad I never got it.
When it first came out, I was initially amazed that such a thing as a combination capo/tuner didn't already exist. It just makes so much sense to combine the two items.
The Planet Waves Ned Steinberger Dual Action capo by itself is a pretty good improvement on the ol' standard Kyser capo design and provides fine tuning capability and still have a single-handed unit. (Also note that there is a second Ned Steinberger-designed capo that is more like a Shubb capo with just the tension screw.)
However, without a full note/pitch display, this tuner can only tell you if you are slightly off pitch (sharp or flat) as a result of the pressure of the capo itself or just after a normal amount of play. It assumes that you are already in tune to begin with for it to work with any accuracy.
The descriptions of this tuner says that you can clip it to the headstock and tune your guitar. Also misleading since, again, it does not have a full display and cannot tell you what pitch each string is. Only that it might be sharp or flat. What if you want to change to an open tuning? Not unless you have perfect pitch, you can't.
Not convinced? See it for yourself in Planet Wave's own official video of the product:
[...]
Since both the NS Capo and the Dual Action Capo are fairly good designs, I suspect that the Dual Action Capo Tuner was less Ned Steinberger's idea and more Planet Waves (D'Addario).
Until they improve the tuner portion of this item, I would not recommend it. I'm a guitar teacher and repair tech at Magnolia Guitar.

The ns capo tuner combines the widely acclaimed ns dual action capo with a planet waves precision chromatic tuner. the first of its kind, the ns capo tuner provides accurate tuning at any fret or when clipped on the headstock of your acoustic or electric guitar. the patented compound action of the dual action capo reduces the force necessary to open and close the capo. it also eliminates side pulling the strings out of tune, a common issue with standard trigger-type capos. lightweight, accurate and easy to use, simply adjust the micrometer tension knob just enough to eliminate string buzzing and enjoy repeatable in-tune performance at every fret. nbsp; bull; designed to fit standard 6- and 12-string guitars bull; the upper lights indicate sharp conditions in the same manner as the lower lights indicate flat conditions bull; tuner will automatically power off after 4 minutes

Just like the other reviewer, mine did nothing either. I went through three new batteries before giving up. Amazon should set up a test dept. to check all new products before allowing their seller to cheat Amazon's loyal shoppers. These units are produced in Korea (I wonder North or South, LOL). It seems a lot of junk from Korea and China is flooding out markets, same thing at ebay, way too much junk. The reviews on Amazon help a lot when you remember to read them, and please, when you get a bad product right a review. Oh yes, the one star rating is the worst Amazon allows, too bad they don't provide a minus sign!

Oscar Schmidt by Washburn OU5 Concert Ukulele Bundle with Cherub Tuner and Gig Bag Review

Oscar Schmidt by Washburn OU5 Concert Ukulele Bundle with Cherub Tuner and Gig Bag
Average Reviews:

Ordered Tuesday, received Wednesday despite Amazon's email saying it wouldn't be delivered on time due to a sandstorm in AZ.
Besides the fast delivery, I am more than happy with my purchase. I read countless reviews about the OU5 and I was even surprised at how beautiful this instrument looked (The picture doesn't do it justice). I just wanted a ukulele to mess around with being that I'm kind of bored with just my guitars.
Sounds perfect and strings stayed in tune after first few tunings. The tuner included works great and case is quality. Not sure why anyone would pay $130 when for $10 more you get a nice tuner and case. Also the concert size is perfect, it is still a small little ukulele but it's more versatile. For what you get this is definitely a bargain, you won't be disappointed.
Aloha!

Intellitouch PT10XL Mic and Plug Tuner Review

Intellitouch PT10XL Mic and Plug Tuner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This chromatic tuner is a lot more flexible than regular guitar tuners if you want to do drop D tuning, DADGAD, open G or any of the other variations, or if you want just one tuner for the whole band.
It will also work on the horn section and woodwinds. In fact if you want you can check the tuning on your kitchen appliances. Our coffee grinder is a mildly flat A#.
Which brings to mind the fact that the tuner display defaults to showing sharps instead of flats. So if you're tuning your high school concert band you have to tune to "A#" instead of "Bflat", which is no big deal.

Cecilio CVN-400 Satin Finish Violin w/ Tuner, 2 Bows, Shoulder Rest, Extra Sets Strings and Lesson Book in 4/4 (Full Size)
Average Reviews:

I bought this as my second violin as i left my original hand crafted violin back in India. I am certainly not a beginner, as i have been playing a violin from almost 10 years, and definitely not a pro as i don't give concerts. I can distinguish between good and bad instruments. After playing this violin for a few minutes, i felt the tone is a bit harsh, but it will improve with time. The package as a whole is a good one with two bows, an extra set of strings, an extra bridge, a tuner, though i would have preferred a roomier professional case and a attachable pickup at a slightly extra price, but not many students would need them. Definitely value for money package for a student.
I would also recommend a brass/rubber mute along with the violin.

Sabine MT-12000 Advanced Tuner/Metronome/Tone Generator Review

Sabine MT-12000 Advanced Tuner/Metronome/Tone Generator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This tuner is probably one of the best values for this level of instrument. The split features are a great bonus. The microphone is very sensitive, so you will want to combine a pickup mic for wind instruments and or noisy environments. If you are in a band or orchestra, you'll need the pickup, but if you are in a studio or practice room you'll be fine. Even background talking may throw it off. Electric instruments benefit from it's in/out jacks.
We have a family with a flute, oboe, clarinet, bass guitar, tenor uke, 2 soprano ukes, and 3 kids in choir and it works great for all of us. The metronome sounds very good and has such a wide-range of variability.

Boss TU-88 - Black Guitar and Bass Tuner Review

Boss TU-88 - Black Guitar and Bass Tuner

I sometimes have to practice my electric bass with headphones so as to not disturb my roomate. this unit is a chromatic tuner, metronome, and monitor mixer for headphones. I plug my mp3 player (with headphone output) into the tu88, and my guitar and headphones. I can tune my guitar with audio cues when I'm in tune, then turn down the tuner tones to hear the guitar and mp3. it runs on 9v, but doesn't seem to have auto shut off especially if you leave something pluged into it. overall I'm pleased with the unit. it also has lots of different metronome patterns and a speaker for using the metronome without headphones too!

Shar 3-in-1 Clip Metro-Tuner Review

Played in a couple of bands in the 80's and we used the Peterson Classic tuner a huge and ungodly thing. Now however, with the Peterson Stomp Classic things are more personal. Right at the forefront of my current arsenal, true bypass, a click of the switch and a quick tune and right back at it smooth transition, multiple functions, great design and durable(I wear boots and have big feet so it better take a beatin'). I highly recommend this tuner, a little higher priced than some but worth it in the long run!

Seiko STX2 Clip-On Chromatic Tuner Tuner Review

Seiko STX2 Clip-On Chromatic Tuner Tuner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This tuner goes back for a reason I could not have anticipated. In fact, it was the opposite of what I expected.
I keep my tuners on the headstock of my guitars while I play them. I fold them down, but rarely remove them, especially if they fit in the case without being removed. That's part of their attraction and convenience.
From the pictures, I was expecting something small and unobtrusive. However, it is large and massive. It goes back because when I'm playing my (acoustic) guitar, the sheer mass of the thing has it vibrating and making noise on its own. I tried different placements on the headstock, but it kept on vibrating as I played. For the record, the Seiko STX tuner weighs in at 47g compared to 34g for the Zoid Z-1000 Clip-On Tuner by Sabine and 33g for the Intelli IMT500 Clip-on Chromatic Digital Tuner for Strings.
I suspect this is as pure a case of YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary) as you'll find. It wouldn't surprise me if the STX tuner didn't vibrate the same way on other instruments, but there you have it.
Also for the record, there was no problem tuning with it despite its using bars rather than a representation of an analog meter. As I mentioned in another review, I believe clip-on tuners have become a commodity with each model equally capable of getting an instrument in tune.

Planet Waves CT-06b S.O.S. Bass Tuner Review

Planet Waves CT-06b S.O.S. Bass Tuner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had two of the Planet Waves S.O.S. Bass Guitar Tuners. I got them cheaper somewhere else (an online music retailer). They don't work. Don't waste your money.
The first one I got arrived safe and sound. The tuner works by pulsing two small LEDs. You shine the LEDs on the string at the 12th fret and when the string vibrates at the same frequency as the LEDs (and the lights stop pulsing), you're in tune. Sounds easy enough. Well, the first one arrived and only pulsed on the "B" setting. None of the other setting pulsed. So I changed the battery (which by the way cost almost as much as I paid for the tuner). Still nothing. So I sent it back to the retailer and they sent me a replacement.
The second unit arrived and I had high hopes that it would work. No such luck. When I turned it on, only one LED was lit. One was out. So I changed the battery and turned it on and still only one LED. So I tapped it gently and the other LED lit up. But it would not pulse on any setting.
The bottom line is that these things don't work. They're cheap. But that's about all I can say about them. They are useless for actually tuning anything. I definitely cannot recommend these to anyone. If you're lucky enough to get one that actually works, good luck. But I've had two of them that didn't work. I can only conclude that they're not worth the money you pay for them. The two I had didn't work at all out of the box. That doesn't give me a good feeling about the product. I will not buy anymore of these tuners.
I have other products by Planet Waves that work as intended. This review is not about trashing the company, only the S.O.S. Bass Guitar Tuner.
