Squier by Fender Bronco Bass, Black Review

Squier by Fender Bronco Bass, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had this bass for about 3 years now, and I must say, it's a very sturdy, and easy to use bass. you have beginners who have tempers?? well get this for sure!! It's a short-necked bass, so it makes it easier to play for smaller people. I got mine used and the only problems with it were loose connections in the inside, and a stripped screw on the pickup. I fixed both of those, and it sounds great!!
It's definately not for pros though, if you have a lot of experience in bass playing, then this probably isn't for you. Distortion isn't great either; it has one coil, and it doesn't handle distortion very well...
All in all, this is an excellent bass, and it is a great starter bass too...

DigiTech BP200 Bass Multi-Effects Processor with Expression Pedal Review

DigiTech BP200 Bass Multi-Effects Processor with Expression Pedal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Within it's class and price range, I'm giving it a five.
You'll end up paying a good 500-600$ to find anything better.
This has to be the quietest multi-fx I've ever used. Even the fuzz-wah doesn't give background hiss cranked up on my system. Except the buttons, it's all metal and pretty solid.
You can't edit effect parameters with the computer.
The pedal distance is pretty short and there's almost no resistance to it.
As has been said elsewhere, the fretless has quite a lag to it. Not useless, just a lag to get used to.
For the money, no hiss, metal body, a good selection of flavors, basic (and effortless to get going) drums and a pedal that can be assigned to about every parameter I can find.
It's the best unit in this price range, period.

I have owned this for over 3 months - it is awsome. Recieved as gift from wife. That and the leather case she bought with my name from ValetStand com. This is the first time ever I can just clip on my trainer and jam. The leather case is a must.

This was one of the first basses I ever owned, and I can quite honestly say it was one of the best. It had stellar looks with a powerful meaty sound. It always turned heads, it was a monster. It had low action and I had it tuned down to C and it kept in tune always. It handled everthing I could do to it, as well as others. One of the best made basses around.

Silvertone LB11 Bass Guitar and Amp Package, Liquid Black -SSLB11PK-BK Review

Silvertone LB11 Bass Guitar and Amp Package, Liquid Black -SSLB11PK-BK
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just recently fell for the Bass. I was looking for a package, since I'm a noob and still have so much to learn. Based on the looks and reviews, this seemed to be the best bass kit for the price.
Like many I was kind of worried after ordering, the contents of the negative reviews began to sink deeper into my mind, but it arrived yesterday and I have no complaints concerning the BASS.
The accessories however, are pretty shoddy. The bag has NO padding and the strap is thin and actually hurts my shoulder. It would be suitable for a ukulele, not a heavy bass. These are two things I will need to replace very soon...ahhhhh more money....
I also have trouble understanding people's complaints about the amp. I may not know much, but this thing is LOUD and I never put the volume all the way up. I can see it being covered by drums, but i play with my obnoxious nephew on his electric guitar, amp and all, and have no trouble hearing what I'm playing.
The instructional DVD is a bit....weird. I wasted about 20 mins on it...but I think that aside from maybe a scale or two you can get much better lessons and tutorials on youtube.
All in all this is a great Bass for my situation. I am a beginner with my only prior musical experience being with the Violin, along with an ongoing lesson on guitar. I'm picking this up for a new hobby and so this sufficient. Very nice sound, look and weight. This is a great way to transition into the bass guitar!

Hipshot BT2 Bass Xtender Key (Chrome Finish) Review

Hipshot BT2 Bass Xtender Key (Chrome Finish)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently installed the BT-2 on my Fender Jaguar Bass (2007) to be able to change tunings quickly during live performances. The installation is a direct retrofit without any modifications to the instrument necessary. If there are any concerns regarding the condition of your screw holes when you install this unit, a bit of wood glue (Elmer's is more than sufficient) and a toothpick will easily refill the existing hole and allow the threads to "bite" into the wood again. The tuning peg comes with a ferule which will be unnecessary for the installation; as the stock Fender ferule on the guitar fits the post diameter exactly. The flat head screws included provide clearance for the top plate to rotate above the mounting plate, so be sure to use them. The enclosed directions and diagrams are clear and concise. Following the steps exactly will make this a simple process.
The Pros:
The design of the lever system will allow you to de-tune from E to as low as C without the unit's rotation causing interference with the A string tuning peg assembly.
When the correct pitch is set for the drop tuning, it will hold a consistent tuning.
The fine teeth on the gear create minimal play and allow for precision operation; as do the nylon bushings.
The amount of desired resistance when turning the tuning knob can be adjusted by a set screw located on the top plate. This will increase or decrease friction against the nylon bushing, so be cautious when increasing the pressure so as not to damage the nylon.
The lever in the standard tuning position will not interfere with your hand positions.
The lever in the drop tuning position rotates completely away so as not to interfere with your hand positions.
The Cons:
The knurled thumbscrew used to adjust the drop tuning pitch is not as close in machining tolerances as the rest of the assembly. I used a bit of PTFE paste (for plumbing threads) to fill in the thread gaps and add a redundancy to the spring tension to prevent the screw from vibrating out of the desired pitch when playing in standard position.
Depending upon the specifics of your nut and bridge design, the string may become hung up in the grooves when engaging or disengaging the lever. A bit of lubricant to the stringnut and the saddle can help remedy this.
Inexplicably, when I tune my string to the standard E pitch, set the detuned pitch and return to standard pitch again, the standard E pitch returns at 12 cents sharp. However, if I begin by tuning the string to 12 cents flat and adjust the drop tuned pitch to a correct (in my case) D pitch, the result is that the string returns to correct standard pitch and the drop tuned pitch remains correct.
Summary:
This is a great product that will extend the range of your standard bass guitar. It performs flawlessly and can be used with confidence on stage. Installation is as easy as it gets. Maintenance is just a matter of keeping the moving parts and surfaces lubricated for smooth and consistent operation.
About the tuning variance I'm experiencing: My feeling is that this has to do with the knurled style saddles on my stock bridge. This will be remedied shortly with either replacement saddles or a BadassII bridge. I'm leaning towards the latter...

Steinberger Spirit XT-2DB Standard Bass with DB-Tuner Black Review

Steinberger Spirit XT-2DB Standard Bass with DB-Tuner Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Been interested in the Steinberger since the mid-eighties but could never afford one. Been playing bass since the mid- 70s, off and on, and was playing regularly by the time the original Steinbergers came out. I was concerned about the construction and the sound, but they are both excellent. I was surprised how good this thing sounded right out of the box. I picked it up as a travel bass and have found myself playing it on a regular basis. The only minor issues are 1) due to the design the frets are 'shifted' making it a challenge to play without looking at your fretting hand, and 2) having to be stuck using the double ball strings. I've been using Rotosound and Dean Markley strings for years and it would be nice not to be limited to the double ball strings. The ability to drop tune is great. The XT2-DB detuner allows you to drop all the way down to a low B and it rivals the HipShot detuner on my custom P/J Hybrid bass. I don't use the feature much, but its good to know it's there if I need it. All things considered, this is an excellent bass for both beginner and mid-level players. For advanced players, this is a great travel bass to keep up your chops or play in small venues. Highly recommended!

Danelectro DJ-25 Chromatic Tuner Pedal

Well, what can I say? I like this pedal for the most part. but the main reason why I bought it was to complete my mini-Dano pedal board. I failed to notice that (or do the research) the pedal does not go into the "silent tuning" mode, like some of the other , not that much more expensive pedals do. There's always room for some improvement.

Boss TU-88 - Black Guitar and Bass Tuner

I sometimes have to practice my electric bass with headphones so as to not disturb my roomate. this unit is a chromatic tuner, metronome, and monitor mixer for headphones. I plug my mp3 player (with headphone output) into the tu88, and my guitar and headphones. I can tune my guitar with audio cues when I'm in tune, then turn down the tuner tones to hear the guitar and mp3. it runs on 9v, but doesn't seem to have auto shut off especially if you leave something pluged into it. overall I'm pleased with the unit. it also has lots of different metronome patterns and a speaker for using the metronome without headphones too!

Korg GA-30 Ultra Compact Guitar and Bass Tuner Review

Korg GA-30 Ultra Compact Guitar and Bass Tuner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been playing the guitar about 45 years, acoustic, electric, and nylon string. I like Korg tuners and find them the best, particularly for the money, not only for my guitars but also for my fiddle and my banjos. They are small, sturdy, and no frills. They are accurate and inexpensive. They work easily.
This is the only real guitar tuner that I like. I have other guitar tuners that are pretty good that are not really guitar tuners but chromatic tuners with guitar settings. This is small accurate and sturdy and fits easily inside your shirt pocket or inside the small compartments in a guitar case.
It does have features for other settings which are great for alternate tunings.
Don't be fooled by the Intellitouch and other strap ons. You can't figure out all their arrows as well as the dial on Korgs and others. They are too much trouble to use especially is you are doing precision work like setting up an adjustable bridge.
The only thing is that they can be a bit unreliable if the a battery gets worn down. I usually check in new batteries every time I am going out to play some place serious.
With the discount prices you can find in shops and around the web, the only way to beat the price on these tuners is to steal one!

High accuracy and superb functionality have made Korg tuners the worldwide favorite. And now, the new GA-30 joins the best-selling GA series of tuners. With even more features, like a pitch reference tone and quinta-flat tuning, the GA-30 tuner packs basic functionality and convenient tuning functions into ultra-compact bodies.

An Easy-to-Use Dedicated Guitar and Bass Tuner This dedicated guitar/bass tuner lets you select either Guitar mode or Bass mode for truly easy operation with automatically detected pitch. The wide detection range supports 7-string guitar (7B through 1E) in Guitar mode, and 6-string bass (Low-B, Hi-C) in Bass mode. A high-sensitivity mic is built-in, allowing easy and accurate tuning of acoustic guitars.
Ultra-compact Body with a "Tilt Slit" Although the GA-30 is small, thin, and light, don't let its pocket-sized body fool you. The GA-30 can accurately tune any guitar or bass. From studio to stage, tuning is easy and convenient. The back of the unit includes a unique arc-shaped "tilt slit" that lets you insert a plastic card for use as a handy stand.
High-Precision LCD Meter The meter section uses a LCD needle, combining the accuracy of an LCD with the easy visibility of a needle, and providing a stable display. Additional visual feedback is provided by LEDs that indicate pitch deviation.
Sound Out--Internal Speaker Provides a Reference Pitch In addition to visual tuning via meter, the GA-30 can play reference pitches from its internal speaker (Sound Out) for tuning by ear. Each press of the Sound switch will cycle the output sound through 7B->6E->5A->4D->3G->2B->1E in Guitar mode, or LB->4E->3A->2D->1G->HC in Bass mode.
Quinta Flat Tuning mode--a World-Wide First! The GA-30's Quinta Flat Tuning mode supports the lowered tunings used in heavy metal styles to give more weight to the sound. Until now, dedicated guitar tuners have supported a maximum of only four semitones below standard pitch, but the GA-30 gives you five steps of flatted tuning, extending as far as five semitones below standard pitch, and supporting even super-long scale guitars that are five frets longer than conventional guitars.
Auto Power Off Function If you leave the unit powered-on for 20 minutes without performing any operation, the Auto Power Off function will turn the power off automatically, avoiding unnecessary battery consumption.
Approximately 100 hours of continuous use Low-power consumption design allows an amazing 100 hours (approximate) of continuous battery life (A4 continuous input, Meter mode, zinc-carbon batteries).

A simple but accurate tuner - more pitch-accurate that the Korg tuners. Not as versatile - you can only do EADGBE tuning - but I found that the Korgs could slip as much as a quarter-step off true pitch, while this Yamaha stays dead-on.

Korg Pitchblack True Bypass Chromatic Tuner Pedal with 4 Display Modes Review

Korg Pitchblack True Bypass Chromatic Tuner Pedal with 4 Display Modes
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Bought this Korg after losing a prior tuner after many years of gigging. Researched on several on-line boards and alot of guys recommended. Wanted something easy to use on a dark stage, tough, and not too expensive. This fits the bill: am satisfied after several months of use. The bright, highly visible read-out cannot be missed or misunderstood. That's what you want tuning in a hurry, on cluttered, dark stages. The unit is happy living in a jumbled gig bag. Battery lasts a long time. Leave your guitar plugged in (bypass) during a set, or simply keep the unit on your amp to use in-between sets. My bass player used it recently too with no problem. Expect to have this for years.

The music makers at Korg have set a new standard in pedal tuner capabilities. Announcing the Korg Pitchblack--the chromatic pedal tuner dedicated to precision and functionality.

Chromatic Pedal Tuner With Large LED Display High precision, advanced functionality and sleek style make this new guitar/bass pedal tuner from Korg their most advanced yet. The Korg Pitchblack is the same size as a compact effect unit, and features a tough aluminum die-cast body that will endure hard use on the road or in the studio. While small in size, this strobe tuner boasts a large; easy to read LED meter with a light-emitting surface for excellent visibility in any setting from daylight, to stage light and to no light at all, as well as an extremely smooth eleven-segment LED meter that allows accurate visual tuning from any angle. With a red LED that indicates the tuner's on/off status, a large note name display, and a tuning guide that indicates whether your instrument is sharp or flat, you'll always be able to tune quickly and accurately in any situation. The Pitchblack provides a tuning range of E0 (20.60 Hz) to C8 (4,186 Hz), and adjustable calibration between 436 -- 445 Hz.
Strobe Tuner With Four Display Modes The Korg Pitchblack's LED meter can be switched between four display modes including: Meter mode, Full Strobe mode, Half Strobe mode and Mirror mode.
Meter mode Similar to using a needle meter, tune your instrument with this pedal tuner so that the green LED in the center of the LED display lights and both tuning guide LED's are lit. The tuning LED's will be to the right of center if your instrument is sharp, and to the left of the center if it is flat.
Full Strobe mode Using this pedal tuner, tune your instrument so that the LED meters stop streaming and both tuning guide LED's are lit. The LED meters will stream from left to right if your instrument is sharp and from right to left if it is flat.
Half Strobe mode Tune your instrument so that the LED meters stop streaming and only the green LED in the center is lit and both tuning guide LEDs are lit. The LED meters will stream to the right of center if your instrument is sharp, and to the left of center if it is flat. When the pitch is correct, only the center LED will be lit.
Mirror mode Tune your instrument with this pedal tuner so that the two LEDs on the left and right sides of the center LED meet in the middle and both tuning guide LED's are lit. The pitch lit LEDs will spread farther apart the more your instrument is out of tune. The left tuning guide will light if your instrument is flat, and the right tuning guide will light if it is sharp.

100% True Bypass output keeps your tone intact. The Pitchblack mutes the input signal for silent tuning, and when you're not tuning, the input is passed directly to the output jack without being affected by any circuitry (True Bypass). Therefore, even if you connect the pedal tuner between several of your favorite pedals, the signal will pass without going through the internal buffer amp, ensuring that the sounds you've created using your effects will not be colored in any way. The Pitchblack is designed to coexist transparently with other effect pedals.
A perfect fit in your pedal board plus the DC output powers other pedals. The Pitchblack is designed to fit conveniently into your pedal board system. This pedal tuner provides a DC OUT jack that can supply power to other effect pedals when the optional AC adaptor is used. By connecting optional DC cables, you can supply up to 200 mA of power to multiple effect pedals, simplifying the power connections in your pedal board.
Three-Year Warranty Korg pedal tuners purchased from a Korg USA authorized dealer now have a three year warranty.

Korg GA1 Guitar and Bass Tuner Review

Korg GA1 Guitar and Bass Tuner
Average Reviews:

I am new to playing the guitar, and became extremely frustrated with trying to tune my guitar by ear. It was impossible for me, and my guitar sounded horrible! Then, I got this electronic tuner, and my guitar sounded like an actual guitar. It is very, very easy to use. All you have to do is play each open string, and tune it by the guage on the tuner. I could not be happier with this small little investment. I would highly recommend it - especially for people who are apparently tone deaf.
