Drumdial Drum Tuner Review

(More customer reviews)If you've ever been frustrated with your drum tuning, the drum dial is for you! It seems like whenever you try to get solid advice on tuning your drums, you get told that "it depends on what YOU want them to sound like" or "drum tuning is an art, not a science". Well, with the drum dial, it IS a science so you can get your drums to sound exactly like you want them to, every time you tune. The drum dial measures the tension of the drumhead at each lug so by getting the tension near each lug at the same drum dial number, your drum is in tune with itself. It's the same thing you're trying to do with the old-fashioned tapping method but you're using your eyes on the dial, instead of your ears. Then, it's just a matter of deciding what tone you like. Personally, I like the tone of my drums using the settings recommended in the drum dial instructions. Some people might like their drums set higher or lower. It doesn't matter because once you get the desired tone, you just write down the drum dial numbers for that drum and you can always get it back to that tone easily. Some purists will say you should just learn to tune the "right way" which is the old-fashioned way. Well, my buddy tunes his electric guitar with an electronic tuner, so why shouldn't I use technology, too? Again, if you've ever struggled to make your drums "sound right" or been frustrated by the whole drum tuning experience, get the drum dial. I'll never be without one again.

(More customer reviews)I am a music major at Indiana State University who plays upright bass in orchestra, and was looking to expand my music knowledge to violin. To my surprise my parents picked this up for me. I attempted to tune it and the high e string broke. Not surprising. As a rule, ALWAYS put new string on an instrument right away. The strings it came with were old and low quality. Also be sure to clean the instrument. I was disturbed by the amount of filth that came off the finger board. When i was done with setting it up and such, the instrument i was left with was astounding. The sound and depth is very nice, and the finish is stunning. I'm very happy with it. The case is nice, but it did need to be cleaned. the bows are passable, the rosin..... buy new rosin.

The unique feature of this capo is that you can flip it around, for example, cover the 3rd 4th and 5th strings on the second fret to convert it to an open E B A E B E tuning from a standard E B G D A E tuning. Very reliable and fun. Highly recommended.

The tuner clamps quickly and easily onto the headstock of your instrument. The articulated mount allows you to easily maneuver the display for easy viewing. Pluck a string, and the readout shows you the closest note - and uses a simple system of arrows to show you if you're spot on or just close. Comes with a nice little protective sleeve and fits easily into the accessory box of most instrument cases.
Caution: the instructions that come with the tuner are poorly written and needlessly confusing. Suggestion: unless you need to tune off-pitch for some reason, simply do the self-test as described, just to make sure it's working properly, then clamp on, set it for the A440 mode and tune away. Takes only moments, the tune is highly accurate.

As far as I know, it is the only electronic tuner that has specific Banjo settings (along with guitar, violin/mandolin, ukelele, and chromatic settings)...such that you can see both the note name you're playing and the string number of the banjo on the display as you pluck the string in tune. Very easy to see tuning "needle" and screen color change to green when you've got the note in tune. Smaller form-factor that other tuners I bought for my wife's guitar and the kids' violins, but still with big easy to read display.

Crafter TG200H Headstock Tuner Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this tuner along with two other clip-on tuners (a snark and a korg). I then compared all three to my Turbo Tuner, which is a highly accurate strobe tuner. The crafter was terrible. It tracked very slow and was just plain inaccurate on the low E and A strings. This was true on both electric and acoustic guitars. The korg was the most accurate and fastest tracking of the clip-on tuners. The snark is the most "user friendly" of the 3, good for casual tuning situations.
Perhaps I just got a lemon but my advice is: do not buy this!

BOSS TU-2 Stage Tuner Review

(More customer reviews)I've had the Boss Chromatic tuner for 8 years. I used it as a gigging musician for three years, and it was the one part of my rig that never failed me. It's simple to use, very durable and versatile (for both guitar and bass, and with half step and step lower tunings). Now I use it in my home studio - it's far more reliable than any other tuner I've used, gear or software.
I've worked in the radio industry for over 5 years, and I've met a large portion of the alternative and active rock bands. When they come to play in the studio, they bring a Boss Chromatic tuner. I've had many conversations with these professional musicians about how they would vouch for it as their most indispensable piece of equipment.
At $99 bucks, it might seem kind of pricey. But the rest of your effects pedals are worthless if your guitar isn't in tune. Even if you're just a beginner or a hobbyist, this is one investment you'll be pleased you made over and over again.

Profile Mini Clip-On Digital Tuner with Back Light, Black, AMS-PT-2800 Review

(More customer reviews)The instructions are really bad. But, alas, it is pretty easy to figure out intuitively. I was tuning my guitar with the gstring app on my phone and sometimes with my old regular guitar tuner using sound (I have a Martin 0M-1 with no pick-up). I thought that those did a fine enough job, but now that I have tuned using this, I will never go back. Seems to tune fine and I can tune it in lightening speed.
I was going to buy the Intelli IMT500, but a close review of the feedback showed that it could have a hard time with the low E and the buttons rattled while playing. This tuner does not rattle and tunes the low E with ease. Feels a little cheap (namely when pushing the buttons), but so does the Intelli. Well, it is cheap. So it is cheap, feels cheap, but works really really well.
If it dies on me, I will edit this review.
UPDATE: spoke too soon. the buttons rattle (I think it was the weather change that made this start???). Easy fix with a small strip of electric tape. Hardly noticeable.
UPDATE: After using the SNARK blue, I am changing. SNARK gives a more precise tuning. There is too much variation in what is acceptable on this one. I like the generally look and ease of folding down on this one, but when it comes down to it, what is most important is having your guitar in the best tune it can be.

Dunlop Ergo Pickholder Review

(More customer reviews)I have no idea why anyone would write a review for a guitar pick holder but... Anyway this little Item as you would imagine is really handy. I think in my 7 years playing guitar I have probably purchessed 1000 guitar picks. And at any given time I can find maybe one. Then you clean your house and they turn up everywhere "I don't remember playing guitar on top of the fridge.." This little guy holds about 6 picks snuggly in its little kangaroo pouch. I stuck this to my main acoustic guitar and instead of sticking the little pick inbetween the strings I just stick it in the holder. And when I clean and start finding loose picks everywhere I just stick them back in the holder. The little adhesive strip keeps it really snug on the guitar, and im sure a little goo be gone will remove residue after you don't want the holder anymore. Anyways If you actually read this review thanks and buy it you won't be dissapointed. Your everything guide -Andrew
