Grover 505C Mini Roto-Grip Locking Rotomatic Tuners, 3-Per-Side, Chrome Review

Grover 505C Mini Roto-Grip Locking Rotomatic Tuners, 3-Per-Side, Chrome
Average Reviews:

Once you put these babies on your 12 string guitar, you will never go back to standard tuners. I got a pair of the larger version of Grover locking tuners to refurbish my old acoustic 6 string and wondered why I had waited so long. Previous experience with Grover tuners some 45 years ago should have kicked in and told my brain to do this. These mini's were not made for acoustic, but I put them on my 35 year old 12 string (2 sets of 3 X 3) and now it takes about 5 minutes to change the strings. That is as compared to about 2 hours without the locking feature of these tuners. And you don't have to have miniature hand and a 3rd arm growing out of your chest anymore when you start winding them either. I don't know why nobody else makes quality tuners for 12 strings. There is plenty of room on the headstock for these mini heads. The guitar also stays in tune better, looks better, and has a deeper-warmer-richer tone. I will never have a guitar without Grover locking tuners of one form or another. Trust me, with locking tuners your life will be soooooo much easier when restringing. One of the reason 12 stings set in the corner is because when the strings get old and won't stay in tune, it's such a hassle to change them. Insert, screw down, snip, wind, play. It's that simple. I love this product, as well as its big brother. I also recommend medium stings, as they stay in tune much better, so your 12 sting will be used for playing instead of decoration.

Vic Firth VICKEY Drum Key Review

Vic Firth VICKEY Drum Key
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For the price, the Vic Firth VICKEY Drum Key is a good choice. The key itself is durable, weighty, and will no doubt stand the test of time. It's perfect for drummers who are on the road, since they are so easy to lose; just hang it around your neck, and it's ready when you need it. The Celtic cross is aesthetically pleasing, but the rope is made out of a simple cloth. It would feel better around the neck if it were made out of leather. But again, for the price, I can't complain - it's well worth the money!

Gotoh MLB3-G 3-On-A-Side Locking Tuners 6-Pack Gold Review

Gotoh MLB3-G 3-On-A-Side Locking Tuners 6-Pack Gold
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This machine heads are amazing ! Really easy to instal on my Sephia Crue Custom 3 on 3 ( 3 left side 3 on right side). This amazing japanese made Gotoh Tuners were meant to be install on a Simon and Patrick Showcase Acoustic Electric dreanought guitar, but unfortunatally run out of money and have not been able to get it. Mean while I decided to give this babys a try in my entry level Korean Made Sephia Crue Custom. I tell you, I had never install machine heads before, I was a piece of cake thank God. Turns out this super work on many guitar machine heads fitted like a glove. By great luck, they had the same layout of the generic korean made tunners my acoustic electric guitar had. Plain and simple, 6 screws to screw each machine head to the back of the headstock, by simply inserting the post through the headstock holes and screwing the screw securly, whithout over pressure. The you just flush the hex with the washer and tight gently with a wrench and your done. Now for putting the strings it's kind of tricky. The tunning pegs or machine heads come with a locking screw, they are not exaclty locking tunners as a whole, but in the string post there is a screw type post that for the 6th,5th and 4th, string peg you lock it counter clock wise and for the 3rd, 2nd and 1st string pegs, they lock counter clockwise. So put the strings in the post you have to loosen up this screw post so that the hole where the strings go in opens up. As soon as you have open it enough for the given string gauge, you need to close it or srew it to its locking direction (counter or clockwise) and when it is firmly and securily locked tight, you can start turning the machine head button until you get the desire tension. I had little bit of trouble at the begining, since I had never had this kind of tuners before, but I tell you this system is the best. It is the mos convenient and friendly string change I have seen. You just loosen the screw post, insert the string, close it or lock it and the string will stay locked, preventing any string slippage and then start turning the buttons. After not even 5 minutes of puting the 6th and 5th string and tunning it to 440 frequenzy or standard tunning, they were already in tune and stayed like that ! With new strings !!! I mean that is really something ! Highly recomend this fine, precise Gotoh tuners, 16:1 ratio Japanese made. For reference this tuning pegs and more company's official website is [...]

Mendini MCT-G B Flat Green ABS Clarinet w/ Case, Tuner, Stand, Mouthpiece, Box of 10 Reeds, Cork Grease, & a Pair of Gloves Review

Mendini MCT-G B Flat Green ABS Clarinet w/ Case, Tuner, Stand, Mouthpiece, Box of 10 Reeds, Cork Grease, and a Pair of Gloves
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Considering why I bought this Clarinet, it served its purpose: being a novelty PURPLE clarinet. It was cheap, so I didn't expect it to be that great, and it came with everything it said it would. The body is made of plastic, the keys feel somewhat cheap, and the silver plating isn't fastened on the bell correctly. This is a great clarinet to start out on or simply do what I did: show off. I can hit all the notes I can hit on my other Bb Clarinet, so the quality isn't compromised that much, it's just the feel of it.

Qwik Time QT5 Credit Card Metronome Review

Qwik Time QT5 Credit Card Metronome
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The beat of this metronome is irritatingly loud, to the point where it distracts from the music you're trying to play. The LED display bouncing-ball pulse is muddy and difficult to tell when it's trying to beat. There's no volume control, only a mute button. It looks like it has a dial for bpm-adjustment (an extremely desirable feature) but it doesn't.
There is no power switch, resulting in terrible battery life.
A complete waste of money.
For a budget metronome, I suggest you check out the Korg MA-30, or if you want the dial (and can live without volume control) then the Matrix MR500 or Seiko SQ50 is a good choice.

Mighty Mite Fender Style Electric Bass Tuning Machines - Black Review

Mighty Mite Fender Style Electric Bass Tuning Machines - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These tuning machines have proven that most, not all, products' prices are influenced by the name & ego of the company that made them. Originally, getting just 1 tuning machine like this would cost the price of this whole set, scary huh? I put them into a Silvertone Revolver to reduce the chrome and increase the contrast between the black body edges and the natural wood on the body, and boy, these things work even better than the original tuning machines!
I have a few simple suggestions for prospecting buyers of this fine product. First, make sure they will fit in the headstock since not every instrument is created equally. Second, use an electric screw driver to install them to prevent stripping screws (something I almost did with a mechanical screw driver). Last, put down some duct over where you will insert screws to prevent the wood from getting nasty splits.
I give these Mighty Mite tuning machines a 5 out 5 since they are beyond amazing for their price even if they smudge quickly. For more great deals on guitar & bass parts, I definitely suggest getting products from mightymite.com !

Music Basics Violin Complete Kit with Free Tuner - 1/16 Size (VLN-20 1/16) Review

Music Basics Violin Complete Kit with Free Tuner - 1/16 Size (VLN-20 1/16)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this violin as a gift for my 3 year old granddaughter who, unfortunately, did not start her lessons with in the 10 day refund period of purchase. When her teacher looked at the instrument, she sent my daughter to a technician who found the following issues with the instrument: hair pulling loose from frog on bow; wrong size strings for instrument; soundpost too long; endpin drilled at an incorrect angle so it could not be fitted properly and A peg hole cut at an angle and too close to back wall so there was not enough room between the peg with a string on it and back of the pegbox wall. Bottom line, this instrument is good for nothing except use as a toy - it is not repairable. The technician could not believe this instrument was sold as a playable instrument. When I contacted Music Basics about a replacement instrument or a refund, I was informed that my cpmplaint was past the 10 day deadline!

Cherub Clip Style Auto Tuner Review

Cherub Clip Style Auto Tuner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For 50 years I relied on my ear and used no tuner for guitars, dulcimers and ukes...then I picked up the double bass and found it difficult to hear that low! I've heard complaints about other tuners that don't "hear" the low pitches in the low bass register but this one works beautifully. I recommended it to a friend who plays acoustic bass who has made this complaint; he bought the Cherub and loved it. Then I bought one for my husband who goes through tuners for his acoustic guitar pretty quickly; when he doesn't like one he gives it away. He kept this one. He likes that there is no question when he's in tune. We love the "yellow-green-red" display that signals without a doubt when you're right on, and you can see the color change in a dim room whether you can see the "needle" or not. His only complaint is that he finds the tuner a little difficult to see at the end of his guitar; although it twists around in any direction, what it doesn't do is stick way out from the headstock like other tuners he is used to. My sister has a tuner phone app, which is cute, but it relies on microphone only and has no vibration feature, which makes it useless in a noisy room, plus it doesn't clip on which means you need three hands to use it. Spend the bucks on a tuner, it's just not that expensive. This one is a great price for a great tuner (and this household has been through a lot of tuners).

Planet Waves CT-02 Multi-Function Chromatic Tuner Review

Planet Waves CT-02 Multi-Function Chromatic Tuner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

We all know the expression "Close enough for jazz/rock etc? Well with this
unit you had best hope that that is close enough..I have been using an Intellitouch headstock tuner, as
well as a Korg electronic tuner..The Planet Waves looked cool, so what the heck, whats twenty five
bucks eh? First of all the instructions are those "version in every language on the planet" things that
means that each language gets like 3 paragraphs of information. Not sufficient. So problem one
instruction manual does not instruct.
Unit also has several 'modes' of tuning.. One is a direct plug in to a 1/4" jack for an electric
guitar etc, the other is a vibration sensor, to be used with acoustic guitars or on the headstock of an electric.
Means of telling if you are in tune or not is a dial with a rotating strobe light thingy, that is suppose to turn green when your string is tuned to perfect pitch...WRONG...
Here is where the 'close enough for jazz" comes in... When or even IF you can figure out how to read the
'strobe' tuner, and you tune it just to where it should be the best, you are still at least 3 cents flat or
sharp,(That means that musicians will grind their teeth, but most non players will never know the difference) no biggie you say.. ok then close enough is good enough.. If it is not then I would skip the Planet
Waves Multi-function CT-02 and buy something that allows you to tune your guitar close enough for MUSIC..
However if you play sounds that "will turn tree toads sterile at 100 yards" This unit may be just the thing
for you...

Dean Exotica Walnut Acoustic-Electric Cutaway Guitar with Tuner Preamp Review

Dean Exotica Walnut Acoustic-Electric Cutaway Guitar with Tuner Preamp

(More customer reviews)
I went to Guitar Center in Springfield to purchase a Yamaha FG700S. While testing the guitar, I noticed a blemished Dean Spalted Maple -I've never heard of Dean in my home country. I gave it a try and liked it.
I decided to puchase this Exotic Walnut online and I was highly impressed when it arrived. The strings are all new (D'addario) and unplayed.
I love the Mini-Jumbo design compared to a Dreadnought which is too big for me. I got my WINGS.
UPdate: June 2011
The guitar neck had a crack and was returned.
There goes my WINGS.

Stagg CTU-C Chromatic Clip Tuner Review

Stagg CTU-C Chromatic Clip Tuner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A great idea in theory but poorly executed. The prats are cheap and the product does not work that well. The battery cover does not fit properly and therefore does not secure the battery in place causing the equipment to freeze while showing some bizarre things on the screen. I got around the problem by placing some cotton between the battery and the cover to help hold the battery in place. That almost eliminated the freezing problem.
The other issue I am having with this problem is that it often does not read the correct pitch while in "clip" mode. But I had that same issue with the previous clip on tuner I had from a different brand so I've learned to live with it.
I would not recommend this product to anyone until they fix the battery cover issue. I do like that it comes with a pick holder though, very clever.
